| Show A WORD FROM EASTERN ARIZONA STAKE luxa LUNA VALLEY new mexico jan 2nd and 1887 editor deseret news mews I 1 britto day from this little lonesome balfe baffey in the mountains it it is a place that tn in a few years if well managed would wo aid make a most pleasant home for good latter day tio saints I 1 came down here t today to day on a missionary trip trip but am sorry to say I 1 found the sa saints ants in anything but a happy mood the death of sister eveline lee has bias cast a deep and very impressive gloom upon everybody sister lee was highly loved and respected by everybody she was a true and faithful latter day saint a kind mother and a most hospitable and entertaining housewife the loss to her husband and especially her three small children is very deplorable I 1 have in the last week had the pleasure of visit ingin company with president jesse 74 N smith an and brother joseph fish all the southern settlements of this stake and I 1 can truly say that temporal temo oral prosperity and good feelings prevail with the saints everywhere and the fact that so many of those called caked to come here to settle and strengthen this stake have moved away again has almost left us with nothing but the truest best beat and most honest latter day saints the last settlement we visited erastus is the centre of the stake brother smith desired me to settle and preside at that place its appearance is not at present sent the most inviting but I 1 am we wen cresent fre satisfied that its facilities are superior to any other place in ift apache county its ita a large never failing spring and the night frosts stop earlier and ana keep off longer than any other nace ce in the county the consequence is that grapes and fruits of ef tender varieties grow there to perfection and we can give a hearty invitation to some forty or fifty families of good latter day saints to come and join hands with us and we will build buildup up a new garden 0 of eden with kind regards to our bre brethren tUren in the office I 1 remain your brother in the gospel of christ ahr I 1 KEMPE |
