Briefly, the Ogden, Utah, and (the) Golden Spike national historic site," explained Chris Marvel, tor participation it and interests) cooperating with public sector is seeking public tourist rail link between project manager for the National Park Service. The idea is to follow the original route of the rail lines laid by the Union Pacific and Central Pacific Railroad companies in 1869 which created the first transcontinential railroad. It could be a great boon for the park as an expanded method to tell its story and a boost to the local Marvel added. After analyzing the public comment, the study will be finalized and presented to the United States Congress to provide information which will guide decisions concerning the future of the rail corridor. The study examines the existing condition of the route economy, alternatives evaluated include: No action. Meaning no attempt would be made to construct the rail link or to consolidate interest for a unified Golden Spike Corridor. Management by a nonprofit foundation. Meaning a partnership would be formed with a majority of private sec(for-prof- ot non-prof- organizations. This alternative would rely on local communities and their respective public and private interests to develop and manage the raile link corridor. A state initiative. Meaning a partnership would be formed with a majority of public sector participation cooperating with private sector organizations. State legislation could create a heritage commission or other mechanism to coordinate management of the corridor. Creation of a national heritage corridor. This alternative would require federal legislation to designate the Golden Spike National Heritage Corridor and establish a federal commission to manage the area. The alternative would be a partnership with a majority of public sector participation (federal, state and local governments) cooperating with private sector organizations (corporations and local citizens).
