The People Helping People program is designed to train high schpol students in the areas of academic and social skills so they, in turn, can tutor students in the lower grade levels. This program is set up as a one credit elective class. To be accepted into this class, the student must meet certain criteria and have a personal interview with the instructor. The criteria used for evaluation are a completed member. The program goal is to enhance student development, both academically and socially. This goal is realized and the objectives are attained through development, improvement augmentation of andor student interpersonal relationships through use of obervation and skills, group leadership skills, feelings of problem-solvin- g self-wort- and h self-confidenc- e, ways of coping with stress, communication skills, responsible decisionmaking, assertiveness skills, making alternative choices, knowledge of alcohol and d issues and exploration of attitudes toward self, others, school and community in a positive manner.
