Show rpr Thursday, May 6, 1993 Carbon students to attend national technology contest Recently, four Carbon High students qualified to attend the National Information Technology Contest on June 22 to 27 in Nashville, Tenn. The contest is part of a state educational effort to make students not only aware of new technology, but proficient in the use of that technology. Four Carbon High School sophomores won first place awards: Lianne Johnson, aerospace technology; Greta Nowak, prepared speech; Sheldon Kirkham, extemporaneous speech; and Nicolle Taylor, illustrated talk. Taylor also won first place in technical report writing. Carol Ann Duncan, Carbon Highs technology lab instructor, indicated that Carbon High School students participated very successfully in this years competition. Besides the five first place awards, Carbon students also won five second place awards: Melissa School Marx, technical writing; Rachelle Mansfield, extemporaneous speech; Sheldon Kirkham, illustrated talk; Federation recognizes colleges drug program The College of Eastern Utahs Natural Helper program was recognized April 23 by the Utah Federation of Cory Thompson, structural engineering; and Ian Swanson, technology challenge. Christina Anderson also won third place in extemporaneous speech. No one knows how much alcohol with cause birth defects, Ruby added. The only completely safe amount of alcohol is none at all. A national survey conducted by The Arc in February among 1,000 men and women revealed that most Americans know the drinking of alcohol during the first three months of a pregnancy is dangerous. But less than 50 percent of the respondents recognized the hazards of drinking alcohol during the next six months.
