Show Tf Salina Sun by JoLyn Camp North Sevier has started out their sports program with a bang this year with the Boys' team bringing home the gold at the State Meet last Wednesday, October 22. The event has been highly antic ipated since last season when the team took second at state. All season the boy s have shown their potential at the meets. The team gained a boost this year with a new member who moved to Salina this summer, Glen Tucker. Glen and his parents, Terry and Karen Cross-Count- ry Tucker, decided to move to Salina largely because they were looking for 'a school with an established running program for Glen to join. Brayden led the team and the pack of runners for over halfof the course at Sugarhouse Park. He ran strong, but was unable to hang onto his lead, finally coming in fourth with a time of 16:31. He was the only No. Sevier runner to finish in the top ten. This made their hope of the gold look bleak because in order to win in a team of five members try to October 29. 997 1 Page U contribute to a low score. Most years the winning team wins with a score in the 50s or 60s. The boys and fans hopes were dashed until they saw that only one team, Duchesne, had two members in the top ten finishers, a team that didnt pose a threat. That meant none of the teams would have a really low score; however, the outcome was uncertain until the final two teams were announced.
