Show March 19, 1897 Salina SunGunnison Valley News Missionary Etairs Whitney Mattsson SALINA--Obeloved, Whitney Mattsson, age 81 of Salina, died January 20, 1997, in Sandy, Utah. He was bom November 13, 1915 in Ephraim, a son of Banard and Maude Jenson Mattsson. He married Dodge Christensen, September 16, 1938 in Salt Lake City. She died May 26, 1967. Whitney was a swimming pool contractor by trade. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Navy. He is survived by his children: Gar Mattsson of New Mexico; Gail M. and Larry Hovermale of Sandy; grandson: Matthew Hovermale of Salt Lake City; two brothers: Duane Mattsson of Kearns; Howard Mattsson of Cheyenne, Wyoming; one sister: Nelda Cook of Richfield. He was preceded in death by three brothers: Ford Mattsson, Wendell Mattsson and Stanley Mattsson. Graveside service will be held Saturday, March 22, 1997 at 12 noon in the Salina Eastside Cemetery with military honors accorded by the Salina American Legion Post 36.
