He was born March 7, 1920 in Fremont, Utah to Willis Irvin and Ruth Durfee Allred. He married Kathleen Borg, October 18, 1947. She died December 3, 1981. He married Lois Jeffery Thalman, June 9, 1984. His children are: Kathy Allred Christensen, Terry Allred, Arden Brent and Linda Allred, Kevin Jay Allred. are Jeff and Ilene Thalman, Sandy and Dan Barney, Jim and Dillon Thalman, John and Laurie Thalman. Lucy He is also survived by 24 grandchildren and three sisters, Any Jensen, Odessa Davis and Donna Helms. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 15, 1995 at 1 1 am in the Sigurd LDS Ward Chapel. Friends may call at the chapel from 9:30 to 10:30 am. Magleby and Sons Mortuary, of Richfield. honored on 80fh The family of Philo and Velma Rasmussen are planning a party for the 80th birthday of their mother, Velma Day Rasmussen. She was bom March 17, 1915 at Fillmore to Rufus and Sarah Lucinda Baldwin Day. She attended school, graduating from Millard High School and LDS Seminary in Fillmore. During high school she enjoyed music classes, singing with the chorus, in operettas, special choirs. One time a group of girls went to Cedar City for a contest. This was the beginning of her singing career. She ha sung with ward and stake Singing Mothers, in trios, duets and choirs; even as a soloist in Redmond Ward. She was active in church before she married. Teaching in primary for a year, then as secretary of the Sunday School for three years in Fillmore. After her marriage she has been very active in the Redmond Ward. She was secretary of the primary for 15 years and has taught the Beehives in MIA for 15 years. She has served as both captain, for fouryears, and secretary of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers since 1978. She has worked in the Richfield accomplished painter, having painted numerous scenes in oil for her children, grandchildren, friends, and other family members. She has also knitted ' 'it y i ' F Branch Library for fouryears when it began and for many year she has helped with genealogy. She married Philo Rasmussen on Aug. 16, 1934 in the Salt Lake Temple. They have six children: Wendell, Phyllis, Jerilyn, Ronald, LaVon and Elaine. They are the grandparents of 27 and great grandparents of 46. The Rasmussens were ordinance workers in the Manti Temple for four years. Her hobbies are embroidery, quilting, poetry, genealogy, record keeping and historical writing. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary last year with a lovely party at the Aurora Park. This party is planned for March 1 8 at Redmond city park for due to the large family. Venoy Curtis to celebrate 80th I fZ Ila Dastrup Childs, former resident of Gunnison, will be celebrating her 100th birthday on Saturday, March 18, 1995. Ila was bom in Sigurd, Utah nearly a year before Utah became a state. Prior to her marriage to Clifford H. Childs in 1937, she earned Bachelors and Masters degrees from Brigham Young University, and was a high school teacher in Arizona, Idaho and Utah. She has outlived many of her students, as she taught school in the ,mid to late 1920s and those living students are now in their mid to late 80s. Upon her marriage, she took on the role of motherhood to the six daughters of her husband. She and Clifford then had two sons. They raised their family in Gunnison, Utah. Cliff died in 1969, and Ila moved to Salt Lake City in 1970 to be nearer to her children and their families. Ila has a large posterity which includes 20 countless sweaters, slippers, afghans and other things for family members, and continues to produce her works of art in amazing time, insisting on nothing less than perfection. She has also always been a very good cook, to which all of the family can attest A as well, she detalented green-thum- b cided at age 90 than she was too old to garden, but realized that she wouldnt be able to enjoy all the fruits and vegetables to which she was accustomed, so she decided to continue gardening. She still has pots to grow various vegetables on her balcony at Highland Cove where she resides. She always has beautiful blooming plants in her apartment that only she can keep so healthy. Ila loves to read. She is knowledgeable about many events, current and past. She has an amazing memoiy, and her family loves to hear her recount stories from her past. There are many to hear, too, because she re- members the (1900) and has lived through the advent of automobiles and all the technological innovations since. She has one living sister, Thelma McDonald, who also lives at Highland Cove. Her children.
