In fact, I have to snicker under my breath at people who get all excited about (Oh, oh, I feel it already -Im making enemies). I even heard aboutahigh school teacher who tested his students on who was playing in the S uper Bowl, and said theyd have to be dead not to know it. (Everyone whos dead, please raise your hand....). Not to change the subject or anything, but Jean Piaget, a famous psychologist described preschoolers as egocentric. This fancy term means small children cant comprehend that other people think, believe or feel anything different than what they themselves do. I can understand people getting excited about a game, especially if sons or daughters are playing. The best games I ever at .". Bown. They say that when you do what youve always done, you get what youve always gotten. I fell into the habit of filling this column with my opinions and stories because I didnt get many calls. I stopped calling my sources because they were plum out of news, and I was putting the same families in the paper all the time. A few people told me not to write anything else about them, and an anonymous caller scolded me for something I had written. Enough negative reinforcement! Whats a poor suffering correspondent to do? Happy Groundhog Day! Now, just what IS Groundhog Day? According to rural American tradition, February 2nd is the day each year when the groundhog leaves his burrow where it has been hibernating to discover whether cold winter weather will continue. If the groundhog cant see its shadow, it remains above ground ending it hibernation, but if its shadow is visible (that is, if the sun is shining), six more weeks of cold weather will ensue, and the animal returns to the burrow. Deadlines didnt permit me to find out what the outcome of the groundhog determination was, but Spring cant be too far off. The Cub Scouts of Pack 648 held their pack meeting on Friday, January la.
