kimball and party arrived safely in thatcher on frid friday the ath dinst aften a journey of three days and three nights some of the tn party were troubled with sea sickness or an ailment very much like it the baby was wearied and of course the children caused a great deal of trouble and care otherwise we got along nicely after a makeshift make shift entertainment at bowie the railroad station on the southern pacific we were gift att at the td station with a hearty welcome As the train stopped at thatcher station and we emerged from the car we were met by a host of people W waln ith their carriages and wagons to convey the D us and our baggage to our home prettiest feature of all was a a shower of roses that greeted us in a few sec ands atter after the car stopped the back ww platform was completely covered aitu wl boquet tes of yoses roses and in tact fact so many were thrown by the crowd that the ground was covered also the brethren loaded our baggage ana aad divided the crowd ana we were among in a few minutes the carriages uni unloaded unload aa ded eo us at our respective homes pa ha rented a nice brick residence and although we had no furniture we took too up our abode within its walls as it were on the floor we have often seen roses and beaco ful flowers but the splendid array army a 01 the beautiful roses we witnesses in al a most every door yard is the beet we wlter water and be sides this we are building an addition additions to our academy f the people of safford ord are puttying putt ting up a brick school house the trus iteen tees here fear they will have to lay a special tax and build several more grooms rooms there is such an increase in the school population there were nine children blessed in thatcher alone last past fast day this is a warm climate you know and things grow rapidly last year a stalk of corn grew over sixteen feet high and a sweet potatoe weighed thirty six pounds right here in thatcher chave a kimball cousin a girl who stands 6 5 feet 6 inches and weighs pounds and she is only 13 years old I 1 thought I 1 was large but 1 am not a circumstance to some of the arizona girls there is a creamery and an lee ice plant across the road from us those who can afford it and have the time to make it eat lee ice cream most every day the people are about such as we are accustomed cus tomed to in the north but I 1 notice one thing axe are very sociable and kindhearted equally as progressive and I 1 presume as good saints last night a little boy brought a three quart pall to us full of strawberries and we had strawberries sugar and cream for supper yesterday some friends came to see us and they brought a large boquet of flowers it was composed mostly of roses and yellow honeysuckles honey suckles the roses
