Show IDAHO MISSION BRANCH nampa hampa idaho oct lath 1898 in glancing over the columns of your worthy paper from time to time I 1 read with interest letters from various mission fie fields ids but as yet I 1 have not seen any from the field in which I 1 am now I 1 laboring namely idaho branch of the no northwestern mission on arriving here june 1898 1 1 I was appointed to labor with elder B R 1 V call we were sent to open up a new district in owyhee owahee county where we labored for two months month but without a great deal of apparent success we held but five meetings in this locality but made many friends and were able to remove much of at the prejudice that had bad previously existed in that diat locality against the latter day sainta the inhabitants of that county are principally miners who take but little interest in religious affairs we found a few latter day saints bairas who hawe haare drifted into cheit part wid and we awakened a new interest in them after giving owyhee owahee county a systematic canvas we came down here into washington and canyon counties this being a farming community our labors bors are more appreciated and we are able to hold more and meet with better success generally on the third of october we went to boise city to attend the idaho intermountain fair where we spent a very pleasant week visiting with the members of felds gelds band of salt lake olty city too much cannot be said mid in regard to the good conduct of the members of the band ban d they preached a good gospel germ sermon germon on by the good example they set anid and we as elders alders were and ever will be proud to refer to them as our mormon boys boy from utah professor held dex desel etves ves credit tor bor the fhe pains taen in selecting such a good MO moral ral and industrious set ot 0 men as band members it oan can also aleo be said that the musical selections rendered by the band was the main feature of the fair and many mamy people paid admission into the falis fain grounds just to have the privilege of hearing the beautiful music although the boys bots were not directly called as missionaries we as an elders laboring in thit this part can see as some of them did that god had bad a hand band in their being employed to furnish for the week the proprietor and employed emp loyes of the bancroft hotel where the imis boys were registered could mot understand why everything went so smoothly and why there was such a good feeling there but we b could see and understand how tt it was wa and it if they had visited some ome of the rooms in the at certain bmw mes they might have known how bow it was their visit here last week has put us at least six months ahead in our missionary labors after their contract coin tract was fulfilled they took us by the hand and wished us success in our labors and we returned to our various fields of labor re filled with vigor and thanking than klag god for his blessings not only us elders but all leading men of this vicinity noticed and spoke of the good conduct and moral example noticeable nio in the members of the band I 1 am now laboring in canyon county and feel well in the missionary jwj work and thank god that I 1 have had the privilege of coming and assisting lin in the spreading of the gospel I 1 remain your brother in the cause q oaf g truth |
