Show OBITUARY NOTES SAMUEL PARK died in tooele thoele cit may 28 1898 of heart failure samuel park brother park was born in newtown stewart tyrone co ireland august he joined the church in Kill birney scotland in 1852 and immigrated to utah in 1856 1955 he had been a patient sufferer with heart disease for months before his death he leaves a wife and eight sons and daughters with a host of grandchildren to mourn his loss JULIA ANN TAYLOR julia ann taylor allred died way may 16 1898 at richmond utah of old age at the home of her oldest daughter ellza eliza M allred shepard she was born feb 9 1816 at beldengreen Bold engreen warren co ky was baptized sed sept 10 1882 1832 by elder george hinkle was married to isaac allred oct 11 1832 she was the mother of ten children nine of whom are still living she was the grandmother of great grandmother of and great great grandmother of 3 children she passed through all the experiences of the church in early days having been mobbed and driven from her home many times leaving all her earthly possessions to the mob chosed the plains in 1861 arrived in salt lake oct 2 was left a widow in 1869 1969 she remained faithful and true to the church till her death EMMA PAUL SMITH died at preston idaho april 80 30 1898 of at general debility emma paul smith wife of henry smith aged 66 years year she was born at ait Shur well bellow bellaw hampshire england in 1832 was baptized in 1873 1872 in england and emigrated to utah with her first husband who died she then married john bedney by whom she had ten children and having again been left a widow married henry smith at preston where she remained until her demise she was a true hearted woman and oneat honest h in all her dealings kind to the poor and died a faath faithful ful latter day saint not only did she pay her tithes and offerings but at the death of her husband she has given the home and all to the church of jesus christ of latter day saints she sleeps bleeps in peace awaiting the resurrection of the just and true LUCINDA JANE LOUGEE the deceased was born at st george washington county utah january 7 1872 was married to richard atkin on the of february 1898 1893 by whom she had three children the youngest now being 14 months old she died on the gut of way may 1898 in st george where she elle spent her whole life the funeral awes were held in the st george counselor edward H R snow now presiding the speakers were presidents daniel D mcarthur and david H cannon each of whom had been acquainted with th the e deceased all her life and knew of her integrity to the gospel of the son of god and knew also that all is well with her each of the speakers advised all that desired the companionship of this our departed later in the eternal world to keep the commandments of god as she had done that they too may be worthy of the blessings of eternal life that god has in store for the virtuous and true she lea leaves an aged widowed mother whose heart la in bowed down in sorrow also alao a huband hus bond with three U children who have the sincere sympathy of this whole community may god comfort and aind bless each of them in this sad bereavement rea WM ATKIN died at 10 p m may 26 1898 1998 at menan n idaho Plo ebhraim braim scott aged 65 years 11 months and 18 days after lo 10 long g raba and patient suffering nearly a yew year ago brother scott had an opera tion performed for cancer or ous tumor which is rarely cured all that medical skill loving relatives and friends could do has been done but the hand of death could be no longer stayed instructing and consoling remarks were also made by elders hart ot 0 menan and H bramwell of lewisville Lewis ville and prest bybee of willow creek brother scott was highly respected by all as was manifest by the large concourse of friends and relatives who followed his remains to their last resting place A pathetic scene was the six brothers of the deceased acting as pall bearers the funeral procession of over sixty vehicles was headed by the menan brass bond band may mav heavens choicest blessings alwaes be with the family of the deceased is the prayer of all brother scott leaves a wife and ten children he was the son of john scott better known as colonel john scott who was a body guard of the prophet joseph smith during the perse cautions at nauvoo JOSEPH HAYCOCK died on the ath of june at escalante calante Ea utah elder joseph haycock of pneumonia elder haycock was born in the paish of Lyn landridge dridge worcestershire england july 8 1832 when sixteen years of age he moved to staffordshire to work in the coal mines and while there he joined the church of jesus christ of latter day saints and shortly afterwards married miss elizabeth baugh he remained in staffordshire a number of years and then removed to cannock chase near corsel where he remained until 1866 when he sailed in the ship john bright for america he landed in brooklyn and remained there for two weeks when he went to live at barclay mountain bra bradford word county pennsylvania where he e remained until 1869 when he came to utah and settled at wanship manship Wan ship summit county after remaining there three years he moved with his family to greenville four miles below beaver city in 1872 he came with his family to panguitch Pan gultch then a new settlement where he has since resided with the exception of the last few years which has been spent mostly in escalante about 1877 he married a second wife isabel tyler he leaves a large family and numerous friends to mourn his loss lose he died in full faith of the gospel and with the hope of a glorious resurrection rosella whitaker dalton wife of M W dalton dakon of Wi diliard liard after a lingering illness died june 8 3 1898 at the home of her daughter mrs A W compton in brigham city whence she had gone tor for medical aid she was born bom dec 12 1830 in buncombe county north caroline carolina and emigrated to utah in 1850 she had bad been a member of the church since childhood and experienced the persecutions and trials of the saints in missouri and illinois she was wac married to M W dalton dec 16 1850 in ogden where they resided till 1854 1954 moving from there to willard my city which has been their home to the time of her death she was the mother of nine dh children ildren twenty eight grand children and two great grandchildren she has ha ever been a kind kiad and loving wife and mother and a faithful latter day saint she was the daughter of james jamee and me landa F Wh Raker her body was removed to willard Wl where the funeral services were held at the meeting house on sunday june S the speakers were thomas S woodland william horsley Ho reley 3 L edwards edward daniel zundel and bishop A zundel eurid who spoke kind w words of consolation sol and of hope of ii a glorious resurrection ree flon A large cortege of vehicles and peo pl pie followed the remains to the cemetery DAVID PETERS david peters died at mile U utah tah sunday june 12 1898 at the ripe age of 88 years and 3 months he was born at harlech shire north wales march 10 1810 during his youth he followed the busi nes of harddng and anning and commenced business for himself at the age of 20 at Flati nog about twenty miles from hai birthplace at the age of 30 years he married laura J Davi DaVis sand Nand on june 21 1846 he and his wife were baptized into the church by elder abel evans in the winter of 1849 he be sold his little factory and in march with the first company of latter day saints from wales he started for california as these parts were then known arriving at salt lake in november of that year in 1862 1852 he came to boxelder Box elder in company with other welsh people and located in what was atter afterwards wards called the welsh settlement and in the spring of 1863 1853 he moved his family there As there was considerable danger from the indians indiana the settlers moved into a tort fort erected just north of the present location of the third ward meeting house after the danger w waa past and the city was platted he built on AL a lot in the first ward residing there a guiber of vears veara but later 0 three Mile which was his residence at the time of his death there is left surviving him his aged wife six children forty grandchildren ap and twenty four areat grandchildren although naturally of a retiring disposition he has always been active IT in develd developing ping the country he has had but little sickness the past fifty years and was able to dress himself the day before his death the funeral services were held mon day jnue 13 1898 in th the e 7 three ree mile 11 meeting house the speakers were bishop james jaines nielson Ni eleon jonah mathias wm evans
