| Show ALBERTA STAKE conference cardston bardston Card ston alberta canada february 26 1898 I 1 the regular quarterly conference of 0 this the alberta stake was held saturday and sunday february and 1898 present on the stand the presidency and local authorities of the stake on saturday after the opening services in the forenoon the members of the high council addressed the conference upon the practical duties of the saints lu in everyday every day life in them the afternoon elder card made the opening remarks after which the bishops of the different wards spoke on various topics of interest to the saints impressing upon all the necessity of continued diligence in the work of the lord the relief societies of the stake and also the primary associations were reported by their representatives showing a lively interest manifest among the members in the duties devolving upon them elder william wood then addressed the saints upon the necessity of so living as to be prepared for the mind and will of the lord as it shall be made I 1 known unto us and impressed upon pare parents ants the duty of teaching their children the moral law that they might better resist the temptations to evil surrounding them and qualify themselves for the responsibility of life in the evening the corps of special missionaries called to labor in the interests of the young mens mutual improvement associations of the stake gave a report of their labors for the past three months showing a bene facial result of the same to the different associations both in numbers and dill 1 gence on sunday an outline of the increase of population during the past year of this stake was given also the marked increase in the payment of tithes and offerings the members of the high council presidency of the high priests quorum and four elders were then sustained by unanimous vote as home missionaries in the stake for the next three months after which a num berof the leading elders and sisters were called upon whose teachings were timely the weather being rather severe the attendance was not as large as albut the spirit and teachings were much enjoyed by all present SYLVESTER LOW stake clerk |
