Show WAYNE STAKE conference th the e wayne stake quarterly conference convened at loa wayne county utah february 26 and 27 1898 there were present of the council of apostles elder george teasdale the stake council ors and patriarchs E H blackburn and F W young elder willis E robison Robi aon president of the stake presided after the usual devotional exercises elder willis E robison made a report of the stake in which he stated the health of the people was good and that they had never been tn in better financial circumstances than at present the priesthood are faithful in the performance of their duties and the stake is in a thrifty and prosperous condition the premont fremont lyman thurber giles caineville Cai neville Teas teasdale daJe and loa wards were reported by bishops shops H E maxfield P J christensen Christen aen M W mansfield levi lev C white W E hanks george coleman and benj F brown respectively the reports showed t the le wards to be in good condition meetings fairly attended past fast Offering and tithing donations were paid more freely than in the past the ward organizations axe are in good running order people building on the new town sites selected good feelings prevailing and the various quorums of the priesthood axe are doing efficient work elder george teasdale complimented I 1 the saints tor for their industry and spoke briefly upon the law of tithing and oth i er subjects at the afternoon session patriarch F W young reported the condition of the high priests quorum home missionaries and his labors as patriarch elder joseph eckersley reported the sunday schools to be in a very good condition elder seth ta tatt ft reported t tie he religion classes in operation as doing well elders Wil william liani I 1 callahan andrew sander chas P ivin X 3 turner william A keele james jaenes P knight and peter A akelund then addressed the congregation other speakers were elder hans M hansen of the stake presidency and elder george teasdale the letter latter bore testimony that the lord would send a desolating sickness to purify the children of zion and scarcely should the righteous escape he pleaded with the youth of zion to guard their virtue keep themselves clean walk inthe in the light of the gospel and plead with god for his spirit in the evening a priesthood meeting was held which was well attended by the sisters who were present by special invitation elder teasdale addressed the meeting on the various callings in the holy priesthood and the duties callings and powers of the various ot of alese of the priesthood sunday morning at 9 welock sunday school session conference convened after the usual opening exercises and the administration alon of the sacrament elder george teasdale explained and illustrated the meaning of the lords prayer the fifth commandment and the blessing of the sacrament he recited a poem composed by sister eliza R snow smith in our lovely deseret the school repeating in concert atter after him and as the sang verse by verse he eipl explained ined the same and showed the beauty of thought expressed he exhorted the children to be loving and affectionate prayerful and humble and obedient to the will of the heavenly father in all things elder gearien S bastian of the stake presidency was the first speaker of df the regular session sunday morning he spoke briefly upon existing conditions and said it is time the latter day saints should awake from their sleepy condition put on the whole armour of righteousness and be in the cause of truth patriarch ellas elias H blackburn was the next weaker elder george teasdale then spoke I 1 briefly upon the apostasy apo stacy from the gospel gosi I 1 an athe restoration at the afternoon session elder jos Ecke Ec kenaley raley presented the general and local authorities all of whom were sustained by unanimous vote elder benj F LP brown was sustained a member of the high council elder thomas blackburn was sustained bishop of the loa ward with michael hansen and jacob S bastian as his counselors elder thomas thomaa blackburn addressed the congregation others speakers were bishop benj IF brown elders parley M grigg ephraim blackburn and george teasdale the latter emphasized the fact that without revelation and d an abiding testimony that jesus is the christ and we are reconciled to god and are one with him we cannot attain to eternal life he briefly reviewed the life chat character acter and mission of jesus christ he exhorted the saints to keep in touch with the workings of the church every family of the saints he said should read the deseret news and juvenile instructor we should learn leam our duty and do it in every respect elder willis E robison said he fie only voiced the sentiments of all present when lie ike said god had been with us and poured out his spirit in rich abundance he hoped that in the future provi dences of god elder teasdale would again visit the saints the ajl anthem them therefore awake 0 jerusalem was sung by the choir and elder george teasdale pronounced the benediction in the evening elder george teasdale journeyed to fremont and preached to a crowded house all the meetings
