| Show THE WORK IN VIRGINIA caddo va peb feb 1 isoa 1898 elder franklin J adams of blutt city utah and myself left conference con ferenc which was held on the and of november 1897 for p pitt i t t sylvania county having had that p dart a r t f assigned us at conference en route we went through floyd county and baptized one believer in the gospel from there we went into our county with fasting and prayer after hold IF ing a number of meetings at lasseville we had the privilege of baptizing an 6 other soul we have now thirteen s members in our little flock in tola county and we are proud of them for they are intelligent people we have held a series of meetings in every neighborhood we have gone to BO far and have never lacked for frien tr lenda diL after arriving in this present locality we e applied for a methodist church 15 fut ut the pastor refused then we ampil applied 1 tor for an episcopal church and the pastor objected A gentleman by the name of yates then fixed up his house and invited us to hold meetings there ak large large crowd came out to hear us wa were ere invited by them to hold deett W t in other private houses for P a ter nights the people then fixed tip ak large vacant house where we hel held forth about a week from there WA 4 were invited down to a large school s house where we are now holding fortu tort ll we have succeeded in selling twenty t s seven books in this neighborhood abo among them several books 0 of mor MOO mon we have friends in any direction we go yesterday esterday we visited dvm day school which was held in the S sam J building we are using nearly elcott 4 1 rj aber of the school were our fricia S but the superintendent who had jua recently professed sanctification colaw if d it a sin aln to have anything to aci with us one of the teachers asked m T to teach the bible class and I 1 gladly i accepted the invitation the leeota was the sixth chapter of Matt matthew Jew furnished enough material for a gobac long gospel conversation I 1 had abt been talking long when about halt half of the school gathered around me elder y adams had a crowd around him in aika 1 I other part of the room we ea each rt talked to them on fasting and p A and traveling without purse or s it happened that we were fasting at the time and the people were very u interested we had an appointment 1 v to hold meeting at the close of the sun 2 day school and when the time caits for us to hold our meeting the people began to flock in until the house we waft v packed and jammed we had an out 1 I pou pouring rl ng of the spirit of the lord wa wyt w feel to thank the lord that we have kiiss privilege of mingling our voices in th 6 defense of truth we love the people r of virginia for they are a good peo and deserve the blessings of ow heavenly father we have had an open winter so fitts but it is quite cold at present x ARTHUR C NEELEY brigham city utah |
