| Show IN INDIAN TERRITORY VIAN I 1 T july 24 1897 our conference met here at my house on the irth and aoth of may latt at which time elder eldar W T jack president of the mission was with us and gave us tome some very r valuable instruction nine other vebe el elders rs including elders miner and dalley from texas were here we had bad a good time the holy ghost being poured out upon us I 1 have been preaching at all the houses in the county and also at vian a railroad station I 1 will relate a little cir circumstance cum stance that happened at that place while I 1 was there I 1 left an appointment on sunday night at and went to fill my appointment on arriving a I 1 found a baptist minister there W who 1940 had bad taken the stand I 1 gave him my hand and asked him if that was his hour for preach preaching 1 I g he said it was there being considerable ble of a congregation gathered I 1 had bad been invited to speak at a private house bouse near by so I 1 invited all who were interested in hearing the gospel to follow bep mep me and the crowd all followed me but six persons u s so the minister in place of disturbing cur meeting lost his own congregation I 1 was baptized on the lyth ot 01 may 1876 76 and ordained to the me chise deck priesthood having bavine had some experience in ina the ministry first as a methodist preacher then as an evangelist or trav ehner preacher er there ere a are some peculiar bilings gs in regard to bow I 1 became a mor WB of of which which I 1 will speak in another tetter i gewere sorry that tle the elders were an all taken from the indian territory cn ft tence it seems odd and lonely to lank w we gre are the only ones in the mis sto itolar as 9 we know knowland kno wand and we hope they will soon return there is an opening for a big harvest if we had some more help JOHN DAVIS |
