Show SEPTEMBER 15, 1987 Falcon Forum: Homecoming ance. Now comes the hard By BRADY NIXON Its Homecoming week part.. .How to ask her? Toilet papering her room has been done before. Scavenger hunts are out. Hidden messages in balloons? Roses!! The best alternative for uncreative guys. Hey, give me a break, Im open to any new ideas. Now the pressure is reversed and placed on the girl. All she has to do is answer the poor guy. Meanwhile, this guy wont look at you, talk with you, or even acknowledge your presence. Right? She loves it too. She just goes on her way like nothing has happened. It makes me wonder, "What has she been telling her friends? What if she didnt get my message? What if she already has a date?" And all this time you thought asking her was the hard part. Just wait, it gets worse. Now moving to stage two, the preparation period. If anybody else is like me, I have to make a list of things to do or else Im afraid I'll forget something. Heres a typical at Clear- field, and the whole studentbody has been in a state of chaos. From 6 a.m. assembly practice to staying late working on your float for the parade. Getting excited for the football game to getting up enough nerve to ask that special girl to the dance. Top this off with two thousand students still wishing it was summer vacation and you have got Clearfield High this past week. The climax of Homecoming week is naturally the dance. Guys deciding who to take, how to ask. Girls waiting by the phone, hoping Mr. Wonderful will call, and when he does, he only asks you the phone number of your best friend! Yes , getting a date to Homecoming is an experience that cant be explained, it has to be lived. First of all, in order to get a date with the girl you want, instead of the girl thats left over, you need to ask her at least one month in adv- - DANIEL T.
