All members have had experience with the development and implementation of the career ladder program. The administrative committee is one of three career ladder committees established in the school district. The state legislature requires the establishment of an appeals committee. An evaluation committee will be formed in February to study the 1987-8- 8 program and make changes for the next year. Members of the administrative committee are Pam Mitchell, PTA representative; Dr. Nancy Fleming, Viewmont High School principal; Matt Galt, Mueller Park Junior High School principal; Jay Tolman, Stewart Elementary School principal; Steve Whitesides, district administrator; Ann Keller, Morgan Elementary School teacher; Kathie Bone, Morgan Elementary School teacher; Grace Larsen, Oak Hills 8. committee north of Kaysville. Louenda Downs, another board member shared this concern. Beth Beck, president of the Teachers Davis Education Association, said those on the committee are experts in the career ladder program and this is more important than geography. Associate Superintendent Gayle Stevenson observed that Mr. Dobson and Dr. Fleming had both worked in Layton and that the District is in the habit of transferring teachers and administrators so that location of committee members isnt always the same. When the board voted to approve the committee members, Bob Thurgood cast the only opposing vote. After the voting, Mrs. Downs re- commended that geography be taken into account when selecting a new committee in February. To the question, What was your best present? one lady replied, I remember a dress my mother made for me. It took her a long time to sew. I can still see that dress. It was my favorite. One of the Daisy scouts was wearing a special dress the day of the visit. It was a present her father brought her from Egypt. The ladies were very interested in this special gift. At the conclusion of the visit, the girls gave special presents of a cup and saucer to each lady. This was attractively wrapped by the girls. When Mrs. Gregory, the Daisy leader, decided to take the girls to visit the Convalescent Center she wanted to give exposure to older people and their special needs. This objective was met so well that she plans to follow up with more visits even after the girls have graduated into the Brownie Scout program.
