Phone W. 121 Real Estate Wanted to Rent Wanted to Buy Help Wanted Kaysville 147-- FOR SALE REAL ESTATE FOR SALE PIANOS 4J-36- 17 11-1- Looking back to Armistice Day, Nov. 11, 1918. How that day. I was in the service stationed at Fort Scott, San Francisco. The city went mad with its celebration as did the rest of America. Today, Armistice Day has lost most of its meaning. Just a passing mention of this memorable day. We won that war and lost the peace. There has been another World War since 1918 and again we won the war and lost the peace. And now we have been sucked into a war, where from all outside appearances, we are afraid to win. A war that is costing us a billion dollars a month and thousands of lives of a generation of our manhood that has been born since the first world war in 1918. You may ask what are all these wars about and why do we have to get tangled up in all this fighting? We are a liberty-lovin- g people. We believe that man has the right to life, liberty and the pursuit ofevery happiness, so long as it does not interfere with those same rights of any other man. Ever since our Pilgrim Fathers landed on Plymouth Rock this has been true. Today we have more of everything than any other people in the world. We live better and have developed the natural resources of a land that has made America the great nation it is. Every one of us has been free to work for a future and through our inventions with a pride in our achievements and the making of new jobs, and our free enterprize system we have made this progress possible. None of the many ISMS of the past and present have entered our government to the extent that they have controlled or dictated to our people. No ISM has ever given its people as much as, we have earned for ourselves. We have learned the hard way how to win wars and protect our freedom but we have failed miserably to win and maintain a peace. Armistice Day 1918 carries a profound lesson that apparently peace is not won as easily as a war. Why is it not possible for us to alert ourselves in time and become peacefully aggressive enough to make Armistice a lasting peace and not just a lull before another war.
