Fom Washington Tower, we caught a wonderful view of the surrounding countryside, for only 10c admission charge. In Arlington Cemetery, we saw the burial place of hundreds of veterans. The green lawns and white crosses were very impressive, as was the Unknown Soldiers grave. Next day in our visit to the White House, we were much impressed by all the splendor, but thought it lacking in the peaceful feeling that was in the beautiful Mt. District comprises the towns of Sunset, Clinton, West Point, and Syracuse. According to Ivan Hess, Clerk of the Davis School Board, November 17 is the last day for persons seeking this office to file their intentions. At the present time, Lionel Williams is the board member from that district, filling the unexpired term of Joseph Cook who resigned to take a teaching position at Davis High School. 5 SERVE HOT SOUP ON Souffle: 4 egg whites, V teaspoon salt, 2 tablespoons sugar, 14- oz. can strained prunes. Sauce: 1 cups milk, 3 tableteaspoon salt, 4 spoons sugar, 1 tablespoon flour, 14 egg yolks, teateaspoon almond extract or 2 spoon vanilla extract, tablespoons chopped toasted almonds. Souffle: Beat egg whites until stiff. Add salt and sugar gradually and continue beating until very stiff. Fold in prunes lightly. Turn into an ungreased 1 quart casserole. Place in a pan of hot water and bake in a slow oven (325F.) 1 hour or until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean, or turn into the top of a double boiler. Cover and cook over simmering water 1 to 114 hours or until done. Sauce: Combine milk, sugar and salt in a saucepan; scald. Beat egg yolks well; add flour, and blend. Slowly stir a small amount of the hot milk into egg yolks, then add egg mixture to remainder of milk. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until mixture coats spoon. Remove from heat. Cool. Add almond or vanilla extract and chill. When souffle is done serve immediately with'custard sauce. Sprinkle with chopped almonds. 4 to 0 servings. well-greas- COOL DAYS Good, hot soup has many virtues, most of them applicable to snappy fall weather and the rather substantial appetites developed therefrom. It looks good, it tastes good, and if its the rich creamy kind, it goes a long way toward satisfying those appetites. Corn and potato chowder is exactly that kind of soup just the ticket for a Saturday supper.
