Show News and Features oi Interest to Residents oi Davis County. t LAYTON, DAVIS COUNTY. UTAH One of the greatest disasters in the history of the United States has just occurred in the midwest states of Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma and Illinois. Rampaging river waters, overriding their banks, have covered a tremendous area with desolation and destruction. Entire towns have been swept away, thousands have been left homeless and penurious, having nothing left but the clothing on their backs. From out of the stricken area has come a cry for help. Such a cry has never gone unheeded, nor will it in this instance. The American Red Cross is on the job, serving as intermediary between the distressed and the helping hand. One million dollars of Red Cross funds have been allocated for shelter, food, clothing, medical care and other emergency matters. After the emergency the cost of starting needy families anew in daily life will exhaust Red Cross disaster relief funds. Red Cross needs $5,000,000. Disaster Chairman Thomas Q. Williams states that the Davis county quota has been set at $510. An intensive campaign will be launched in the Chapter. It is hoped that the citizens of the county will send their contributions in without delay. The address is 75 West 3rd South, Bountiful. Do it now. |
