Trivia by Max Its up to you, Manti voters t .Several advisory committees have Ibeen at work in Manti since last spring and the Land Use and Zoning Study Committee is one of them. These committees were formed to assist the JCity Council. They do a lot of study and research on a specific problem and then report back to the Council with recommendations for action. 1 The Zoning Committee did its homework. The members studied many, many ordinances and worked long and hard to come up with a plan which meets the needs of Manti. Jay Alder, Joyce Cox, Dick Macfarlane, Marge Tibbs, Janice Peterson and Ivan Rowley are to be commended for their efforts. After two public meetings and the publishing of the ordinance, it was adopted by the Council. ;Then petitions were carried and Call you didnt know those did you? things, And here are a couple more: Enough hot dogs are produced in the U.S. every year to reach the moon and back 2 Vt times. With the present controversy going on, some of the letters are not all that uplifting. I have received about as many positive ones as negative ones, but one that I got this week made my whole week. It was a short one and came right to the point. It said simply: 1 agreee with you. Then at the bottom was added: P.S. I love you. The letter was from my son, Jerry, in Illinois. I thought it was the best letter of the week. I dont often receive such letters, especially lately. 1 just thought Id share my weeks highlight with you. enough of you signed them so that the action of the Council was nullified and we are again without a zoning ordinance. The issue is now being placed on the ballot and you have an opportunity to undo the harm that has been done by the petitions. It is going to cost you taxpayers an extra few thousand dollars but thats part of the democratic process. the Its all in your hands now Council cant do any more. The Advisory Committee cant do any more. Only your vote can get this ordinance back on the books where it needs to be to provide for the orderly growth and development of our City. For your own sake and for the sake of Manti, get out and vote for zoning, for the Land Use Plan and Zoning Ordinance on November 3.
