The first and second place bulls In the test were Charolals bulls owned by Juel B. Kasmusson of Manti. These bulls gained 530 pounds and 519 pounds, respectively, in the 140-da- y period with an average dally gain of 3.79 and 3.70 pounds. It was also shown In the test a pen of Charolals bulls, which included pound of gain. The winning bull is a son of the first place 4, Buffalo winner of the test. Its adjusted 365 day weight is 1254 pounds. This bull sold at the sale following the test to L. W. Gardner Ranch Co., Richfield, Utah. Charles Spiars John Edward Wall Charles Richard Spiars, 44, of Salt Lake City, Utah died after a short illness at the University Hospital on April 15, 1974. He was a Designer by profession. Mr. Spiars was born November 2, 1929 in Downy, Idaho to Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Spiars. He went to school In Soldier Summit and Spanish Fork, Utah, he was employed for the last several years by Hydro Swift of Salt Lake City. He married Elizabeth Hansen in 1958 in Salt Lake City. They were later divorced. Graveside services were held in Manti, Utah April 18, 1974 at 11:00 a.m. Survivors Include two sons and two daughters: Stephen Ray, Grand Island, Nebraska, David Woodrow, Salt Lake City; Rebecca Elaine and Courtney Lee, Salt Lake City. Parents, Mr. and Mrs. Richard L. Spiars, Manti; one brother and two sisters: Ray Spiars, Grand Doloris Island, Nebraska; Reiss, Fremont, California and Beverly Bush, Hastings, Nebraska. Interment was In the Manti City Cemetery. Mr, and Mrs. Alma Toone were in Logan this week to attend funeral services for a brother-in-la- w of Mrs. Toone, John Edward Wall, 84, who died at his home April 20, 1974 of natural causes. He was born February 13, 1890 in Manti to Francis George and Susan Elizabeth Bench Wall. He married Ada Ray Sept. 8, 1920 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Services were held Tuesday in the Logan 4th Ward Chapel. Burial was In the Logan City Cemetery. ROTC. Spring F estival Ruth Dorny Will Scheduled Be Guest Speaker Miss Ruth Dorny will be the guest speaker at the April meeting of the Sanpete Chapter of the Utah State Poetry Society. The meeting will be held Saturday, April 27th at 2 p.m. in the Little Theater of the Noyes Building at Snow College. Miss Dorny is in the English Department at Snow College and although she does not write poetry, she has a genuine interest in reading it and in teaching the various aspects of poetry writing to her students. She is a graduate of Brigham Young University where she served as secretary to President Ernest L. Wilkinson. She spent two years in Afghanistan and India working in these countries for the United States Aid program and gained a broad background in Middle Eastern culture as well. A lady of versatility and charm, Miss Dorny has much to offer for an afternoon of delightful and inspirational enthusiasm in creative writing. Anyone who is interested is invited to attend. In Moab The Southeastern Utah Fine Guild Arts is sponsoring a Spring Festival and Craft Fair, to be held in the Moab City Park, May 11 and 12. This fair will include artists, craftsmen, food, games, prizes, and what promises to be fun for all ages. Any individual or organization wanting a booth will be required to pay a $5 fee. This fee will go into the Guild fund and will be used to sponsor cultural events all during the year in Moab. Prizes will be awarded for most creatively constructed booths.
