The natural look is not only part of the cemeterys charm but also the direction Pleasant Green Cemetery Association President Kent Goble wants for it. Goble said the Association is trying to keep it natural and clean. He said that after talking to a lot of old timers he discovered thats the way they like it. Goble also added that cemetery as a whole has natural flora but people with lots are welcome to main- tain them the way they choose. As for the clean part, Goble said that comes from local volunteers. Last weekend, Ruth Kingsbury and a friend spent part of their day mowing the northeast corner. He said Kingsburys work made the cemetery look much nicer. He added, She really did a wonderful job. Local Boy Scout Troop 100 has also helped keep the cemetery in good shape. The troop has been doing an ongoing service ATIC refuse from the graves people may have. In addition to volunteering hours to maintain the cabin, the lodges also raise funds for necessary improvements and upkeep. According to Jim Barnes, who helps maintain Camp Wapiti, children attending the camp leam that they are not alone. Barnes added that the child and the parents are able to meet others dealing with the same condition and they not only learn they arc . not alone but they gain a support system that extends beyond the time spent at the camp. The Elks put 480 volunteer hours of cleaning and fixing in last Saturday to get the camp ready for the first campers of the season. Levi Trujillo was one of the estimated 75 Elks at the cleanup. Trujillo is from Magna and trying to form the Elks Lodge. Hes happy that even though the Magna Elks Lodge isnt official because it lacks the necessary 100 new members, the forming lodge is still able to sponsor a cabin and uphold the Elk motto, Elks Care - Elks Share.
