decorated potted plants and violets making a bright happy picture and the guests amused themselves playing games game of various kinds listening to musical selections and partaking of dainty refreshments fresh ments consisting of chicken patties rolls cress chocolate sherbit and cake I 1 the guests of honor each received a present as a token ot of the love their sister officers have for them and as it a little appreciation ot of their past labors A genuine surprise was sprung on miss eliza madsen the president who was directing the party for the tha other girls the balance of the officers quietly got together and secured one of christas Chri handsome pictures framed which they presented to their president while she was enjoying the discomfort ure of the retired officers who had just received their tokens that nearly spoiled the evening for her but everybody had a good laugh and the merry making was proceeded with A delightful lecture of the party was wa the presentation created no end of amusement some choice musical numbers were given by mr waldemar call and delicious refreshments con si of sandwiches of various kinds olives salad served in 1 a I lettuce lea dill pickles ice cream cake ind and fruit punch some of the games introduced were very novel for instance the gentlemen were pitted against the ladies in passing 24 tea spoons along the line lice from hanl to hand and return and tile the stronger sex won slips of paper were passed around and mra W lr call played extracts from various sunday school hymns which the guests were supposed to name in their order it was surprising how few could tell the names of the hymns other blank slips were handed around and baca present was given a certain time in which to write a definition on sunday school work some good answers were the result A list of su suggestive g names were then handed each person together with a copper one cent piece picco from which the sixteen answers were to be found many other enjoyable games were played which were instructive as well as entertaining and perhaps the big feature of the evening was the duette by two one verse being dedicated to each member 0 of the sunday school board roars of laughter greeted this eff effort ort the closings clon etten ings pleasures were not a little marred by the necessary absence ot of mrs call who was suddenly ill in the afternoon to end although none of the guests happened to be of that nationality the rooms were profusely decorated with shamrock leaves and even the he blarney stone was not forgotten for it occupied a place of sheets of paper were passed around and the guests made poetry using the name st to make an acrostic aci this feature caused more merriment than any other and some of tho th poems written would malke C knudson each won I a long irish clay pipe the st patrick color scheme was carried out in the refreshments also the ice cream bricks being green and white and the cake green and white other
