Westview District includes all of the Magna area, and parts of West Valley City and Kearrii sTu L in the daysCtbwiifitaau those who attend will experience activities, such as hawk throwing, fire building, trap setting, Indian games, shooting black powder muzzleloaders, trading goods, making crafts, dutch oven cooking, yarning, and the John Colter Run. o sa !C, e,Varsity-ag- e m. 14-1- Each participant must pass a mini black powder safety course before being able to lift a firearm into shooting position. This has made for a very successful and safe shooting range for the participants. Bill Blunt, a state hunter safety education teacher, instructs the course and is the rifle range manager for the event. Each boy is allowed practice time for all the events Friday morning and some competition is held in the afternoon. Then, on Saturday, the John Colter Run competition is held. This race is a combination of speed, skill, and timing. Those teams ticipating must run an obstacle course while performing feats of dexterity such as hawk throwing, flint and steel fifebuilding, setting traps,' and shooting' anfte range: The teams with the quickest time and most amount of points for their skills will, of course, win. This race is the high point of the rendezvous and is looked forward to with great anticipation by the competitors.
