They also prepare the more familiar tacos and enchiladas, but of course, they are Mexican tacos and enchiladas, not American counterfeits. The difference in the food is authen-- . tic flavor. Prospective host families have the opportunity to review student applica-- : tions and select the perfect match. As there are no typical host families, PIE can fit a student into just about any in-ho- year-roun- . situation, whether it be a single parent, a childless couple, a retired couple, or a more traditional large family. Doty says that there is currently an urgency to place the Yugoslavian students accepted for the program because of the civil unrest in die country. The student visas have already been issued, but the students cannot leave Yugoslavia until they are matched with host families, he says. With the rapidly changing political climate, we are anxious to bring the students into the United States as soon as possible. In addition to the Yugoslavians, PIE has students from Spain, Germany, Argentina, Brazil, the Soviet Union, Colombia, France, New Zealand, and many other countries. PIE is a nonprofit educational organization that has sponsored more than 12,000 students from 18 countries since its founding in 1975.
