Show The Magna Times, Thursday, Febraury 7, 1 985 Ice fishing workshop sot set for February at Yuba ijlj X, Serendipity !:j: !v SS :;:: : J THE JAZZ i A VSportS o BY DALE SIMONS write from the viewpoint of the average fan, although, like any average fan, I think I know more about the game than the average fan. I SIMONS I ventured into the Salt Palace to catch the Cleveland Cavalier game. It was a good night to go, you know. Cinch victory the Cavaliers are lousy. They lose almost every time they play. The Jazz would romp! So I got some popcorn and a big soda and settled back to watch the Jazz kick on the boys from Ohio. Well, things went bad from the start, and our boys were takin it in the shorts from start to finish. To put it bluntly we lost. 1 say we, because I like to seethe Jazz win. This game set basketball back ... 10 years. It was a case of no one cares. You know, a performance. It was like watching paint dry. Yeah, it was dullsville. No defense, bad shot selection, practically zero rebounding, and all of the above. A couple of games earlier at the palace, I watched the beloved Jazz edge the New Jersey Mets in spite of missing seven out of 10 free throws in the last two minutes. The good old boys in the dress circle were wigglin' around in their seats and there was more than a little groanin in our area. The good old fans didnt like it. One was heard to say, These are pros? Now you and I both know that a high school kid can shoot better than three for 10 from 15 feet and he doesnt have to be on the team either. Pros dont miss seven out of 10 with the game on the line. Do they? Some folks say its too many games. Some say its the schedule. They wont cut the schedule back cause money dictates that, but they could figure out a better schedule with more travel time and a dry between games. I know a guy or two who could help them with the schedule. Its not that tough. I know that money decides the schedules. I know that the bottom line is dictated by dollars and cents. The schedule will bow to whatever generates the most cash. As it is written, Money answereth all things. Yes, the schedule takes its toll, and a few losses can be traced to too many back to back games, but aside from that they dont have enough good athletes not enough real pros. What is a pro anyway? A pro lays his ability on the line every time he puts on his sneakers. A pro always makes the easy shot and always defeats the easy mark like Cleveland or Indiana. A real pro rarely has a real bad day like you and I and the rest of the amateurs that are Jazz fans. Was last years championship an accident? Where are the hustling Jazz that we all loved and cheered a year ago today? Where did those pros go? Come back to us so wecan again be the fans of 1984. Even as this article was being written, the Jazz thumped on the Lakers from Los Angeles, and stirred our hearts to beat again in rythm with the Jazz. Euphoria, however, was brief as Denver came to town and got us back to normal with a 104100 victory. Come on Jazz. Get going. My cities team is old and harsh with years, and scourge of all the luckless league am I the losses are bitter, and my drink is tears. Bring back to me some winners or I die. The players hold out for more money when they are already over paid, and when they do sign, they stand around half of the time and wear the paint off the floor. If the fans want to watch basketball players loaf, they can do it at the Jewish Community Cento1, the Catholic church, or the Stake Center and it wont cost them $15 or $20 a seat. All those who call themselves pros, aught to hustle. SIMONS SAYS: The recent fog has proven to me that John Sudbury is not the densest thing in town. SIMONS SAYS: I do not think basketball is a matter of life and death. I think it is much more important than that. non-hustli- Patient desires to correspond 1 patient who has suffered i alone for too many years with a disease that few people have ever even heard of, I am attempting As a scleroderma ' who suffer from scleroderma (systemic sclerosis.) The cause of submerged (ankylosed) teeth is not known. In some instances trauma to or infection of a tooth have been considered important causes in this condition. The ankylosed tooth usually appears to be submerged below the line of the adjacent teeth. This occurs because the permanent teeth erupt into the oral cavity with a longer root than the primary teeth creating a higher alveolar bone (alveolar bone grows to support and protect the roots of the teeth). The crown of the permanent tooth is also longer than that of the primary tooth. Because of the increased height of the alveolar bone and longer crown of the permanent tooth. The ankylosed primary tooth appears to be far below the line of occlusion. Other permanent teeth may tend to move anterioly over the primary tooth creating loss of precious space for the permanent teeth if left untreated. .The ankylosed tooth also retard the normal eruption of the succeeding permanent tooth. The affected primary tooth may have nearly total root resorption from the succeeding tooth but will ream immobile. When tapping a normal tooth, a dull cushioned sound will be heard. Tapping an ankylosed tooth gives a sharp almost ringing sound.
