Show Cammymitt & Head lice cases There is currently a head lice problem in .our area and in the valley. There have been cases reported in some of the schools. The schools are in the process or have already checked all of the students. Trained people are doing the checking with a registered nurse to assist. Parents of children with head lice will be notified, so the children can be treated. Head lice do not carry any disease, nor does their presence mean that a child is dirty. They are tiny insects that live in human hair. They hatch from small eggs, called nits, which ' are attached to the base of individual hairs. Persistent itching and scratching of the head and back of the neck can indicate head lice, although no itching may occur. There are many ways head lice can be transmitted. Physical contact, borrowing a comb, reading coats, hair bushes, ribbons and scarves. Sharing towels or pillows can also spread head lice. It is best for everyone to use their own personal articles, both at home and away. When looking for head lice, look for tiny nits attached to single hairs. Small white specks such as dandruff can be confused with nits. Nits are firmly attached to the hair and are difficult to remove. You should check with a health department professional if you have any doubt about whether head lice are present. There are several shampoos that kill lice. Some can be bought over the Attending the luncheon at Webster were: Debbie Wag-neFrancine Tavis, Marleen Norcross, Rigmore Tuttle, John Moore, Miss Bendshelder, principal; and Sharlotte r, Dr. Sharlotte Pack, principal of Webster Elementary School has been inviting local businessmen and community leaders to visit the school periodically to see what type of programs the school is involved in and what the Elementary holds lunch Council; Corporal Wall, Salt Lake County Sheriffs Department; Bernice Pinelle, Magna Times; Francine Travis, PTA secretary and Debbie Wagner the PTA president. under tour of the shown school and improvements that have been made. the accomplishing.
