siding box elder county the deceased was 30 years of age and the mother of five children who are left to mourn her departure from this life ELIZABETH W RAWSON PLAIN CITY july 21 died in plain city weber county june 1 1895 utter after an illness of seven days day elizabeth wainwright rawson wife of joseph rawson and sister of president L W iffa icide aped aged 47 years and 7 months dihe ho leaves a husband one son and five daugh daughters tem to mourn her departure she was born october 31 1847 in the town ot of colton parish of Ged leing england embraced the gospel in 1856 married joseph rawson july 31 1869 set sail july arriving at as coalville Co alville utah august 3 1871 where the family resided until the spring of 1874 when they moved to plain city weber county utah and remained there until her demise she has been a faithful falih ful and active worker in the relief society for many years and has been counselor to the president ot of the Y L M LA IA of this place for over four years in both of those these societies she will be greatly missed she was beloved and respected otea by all who knew her being a true latter dav saint kind and loving to all her death caused a deep gloom on our little place never to be forgotten the funeral services were held n the ward meeting house monday june 3rd ard the house being filled to overflowing with friends who had assembled to pay ther last respects to their departed sister the speakers were counselor C F middleton elder joseph parry bishop G W bramwell jr and first counselor john spiers their remarks w were e re of a monroe 01 olmstead mislead of cancer of the bladder he son of moses olmstead and almira seeking born at farmersville Farmers Farmer ville eville county now new york wai wa baptized sized an in 1843 and removed to nauvoo soon afterwards was there ordained a seventy ake passed assed through tho the arx trials and affliction the saints were called to pass through at the exodus from Nati narvoo he enlisted in the mormon battalion marched to the pacific coast was there discharged remained at san bernardino till 1855 when he come came to utah stayed at provo where he was married to elizabeth hammond by whom he bad three child children rev in 1866 he wa to take his mule team and go to meet the emmi grants in the hand cart company and went east as far as the sweetwater in 1858 he removed to Ri verdale where he resided until his demise he has been a great sufferer for a long time I 1 the funeral services were neld held in the school house at verdale riverdale Ri conducted by bishop sanford bingham singing ringing conducted by richard dye remarks were made by seven members of the mormon battalion who also acted as pallbearers pall bearers namely john C thompson alexander brown jesse brown ralph douglas I 1 james alion john bybee by bee and charles hancook hancock eldera lorin farr and charles F middleton Midd lecon made a few well a hosen chosen remarks the bishop offered a few words of camlott to the family and benediction i was as pronounced by william 40 parker about twenty carriages filled with friends and visitors followed the hearse to the cemetery the grave was wa dedicated by elder richard ard dye RICHARD DYE NOWLAN union huniodi utah june 17 1895 charles nowlan was born bom in ireland august 25 1811 died june 11 1895 in his bis boyhood he wad apprenticed to a blacksmith but bug in his bis early life he went to sea as a sailor after returning from sea he settled down in liverpool and went to work at his hia trade where he married his bis wife catherine after afier this he moved to london where he be heard the gospel preached by elder elisha davis where he be and his wife were baptized by him he emigrated with his wife to new york about the year 1848 and worked there at his trade one year ind and then moved to st louis mo and worked there about a year then started up the river to winter quarter erp he was on the steamboat when the boiler exploded and the boat sunk by this ibis accident he lost a considerable urn sum of money which he be had bad in one of his trunks he resided at winter quarters about three years raising crops and working at ai his bis trade repairing wagons and otherwise assisting the emigrants emi granto grante to start across the plains for utah he crossed the plains in 1852 and settled at union salt lake county where he again worked at his bis trade and farming he helped to build the old union fort wall he went with his team and wagon loaded with pro provisions provision provi siona ns and clothing out on the plains to assist in bringing in the handcart companies that were ere caught in the snowstorms snow storms late in the fall also went out in the mountains to meet johnsons Johne ous army he moved with the saints to the springs loca located between payson and santaquin San Sau utah county at the be time of the move in 1858 after the difficulty with the govern government ment and johnsons army was settled he be in oved moved back to his hio home at union and followed his occupation of farming and blacksmithing he returned to 10 ireland on a visit to his bis relations and friends in the year 1873 and when he came back he brought his brother george with him he was greatly respected by all classes for his bis generosity kindness and honesty and had bad a good word and advice for everybody he donated the land on oil which the union meeting house now stands to the ward he died from old age after a lingering illness of ten en weeke week and was buried in the union cemetery on thursday june he leaves leave a wife and son and daughter to mourn his loop I 1 I 1 funeral services wow hold held over his remains in the ward house where the bishop and others spoke of his bin good deeds and generous life and character he was followed to the cemetery by about twenty five carriages Atthe time of his death he held the office of seven ly lv communicated |
