A Firebirds, wrapped up the season by beating the Buccaneers 16-Other scores ware the Pirates 14-- 8 and the Giants 14-- 5 leaving the birds ' undefeated for the season. . must be Garrick League action, the Pee Wee mini-tourne- was held y by the Pirates as they ' defeated the Buccaneers and the Giants. Good hitting was seen by Adam Solt, fine play by Jeff Hatch and Brian Simmons was also evident. The Mets captured second place by defeating the Angels 19-- 8 and the Cardinals by a score of The third place winners were the Angels and the Cardinals took the fourth place spot. All of the first through fourth place teams will now go to the Tournament. Their loyal fans now say, Accurate pitching was performed by Jeff Gallup and home runs were made by John Barnett, Shon Kummer, and Jeff Gallup. Two grand slam home runs 20-1- were slugged by Cody Smith. In defensive play Kelly Rushton, Kylie Roos, Layne Daybell, Ryan Goodfellow, Danny Dixon, and Cris good luck Hunter Pee Wees. Tri-Vall- New Officers The Hunter Boys League has elected new officers 'or season. Taking the 1980-8- 1 over the presidents position will be John Davis. John has been active in the Hunter boys league for 10 years. He has served on the board of directors in various positions as well as having coached for many years. He and his wife, Mary Jayne, are the parents of four children and the grandparents of one. The entire family is active in the league. Brett, Missy, and Jon Jon all play and participate in related league activities. John is looking forward to the upcoming year with his newly elected executive board. New board members include: Vice President, Chad Payne; Secretary, Gerrie Dixon; Babe Ruth; Ron Rushton; t Majors, Brad Burt; Minors, Vance Smith; Pee Wees, Keith Rodgers; and Operations, Mary Jayne Davis. Equipment will be handled by Phil Pronk; Umpires, Dave Bright; Publicity, Sharron Smith; grounds, Von Wimmer; and Snack Bar, Sharron Smith. Reid Woodruff was made an honorary board member. Their last game was at Kearns played Southridge Park against Highland on Monday, July 14. In the five innings of regulation play Cyprus chalked up 12 big points against Highland's three. Doug Dilley started it off by making a home run in the first inning. In the second inning Andy Hill got a hit, Curtis Patrick followed with a double, and Randy Anderson got a base hit. The four runs scored before the side was retired were made by Hill, Patrick, Monserett, and Anderson. Marty Jones got a double in the third inning and scored on an error for a home run. Rich Hardman got a base hit as did Monserett who scored. At the end of the inning it was seven for Cyprus, zero for Highland. Highland made their three runs in the fourth inning. But Cyprus got another three runs which insured a comfortable margin. Ron Hatch walked, Dilley got a base hit. Hill doubled, and Patrick got on with a base hit. The final inning saw Monzarett get a base hit followed by a walk for Wooley. Hatch got on base on balls and Dilley did the same. Marty Jones hit a sacrifice fly out to left field which brought Hatch in for the score. Tournament The tournament starts Saturday, July 19, at Southridge Park in Kearns.
