| Show AN enthusiastic ASSEMBLY THE ladies mass meeting aron on saturday in the theatre was a mammoth and enthusiastic affair the spacious 8 building was packed in every part and many could not gain admittance stage kage wings circles sitting and standing room were all occupied and the most intense interest was manifest in the proceedings the speeches poetry songs and nd musical exercises were all 11 inspiring and appropriate prop eliciting tremendous applause and the only regret was that a number of ladies who could have contributed greatly to the interest an and d variety of the meeting were not able in consequence ot of the length ot of the me pro gramme to express their views to the assembly we publish this evening two speeches w which were omitted in curf y 19 issue they will appear in their proper order in our corrected report which will be published in the tae semiweekly semiweekly DESERET news of tuesday those who wish to forward copies of the paper er to friends and others had better subscribe for the he semi semiweekly weekly containing in the e lull report 1 ve we co congratulate our sisters on their success the ine meeting etine was well conducted the speeches were ware animated and vigorous but couched in proper language and ana nothing was said or done that was inopportune or out of order we think the appointment of a committee to draft a memorial to the president and congress of the united states was wise and timely we hope the ladies composing the committee wi will il get to work at once and formulate such a document as will strongly express the views of the women of utah on the questions which concern them more mor than ethan any other persons living this movement of the ladies is ii for the maintenance ot of home family the ties of affection the welfare of bf their dear ones and the vindication of sacred principles that are worth more than any earthly thing they are in earnest let who ho will think tafv are mistaken but let their voices be heard beard in tones that will convince all who hear of their sincerity and firm convictions vict ions and whatever may be the result they will know they have done their duty dulty the rest reat we are all willing to leave in the hands of him who will yet vet deal out evenhanded even handed justice to all |
