grover was born at farmington parro ington davis county utah hitik 1849 11 he e died of hepa to colic passing of gall stones at his residence in nephi juab county utah at 1155 t S m T alte may ay 1886 he was the rat tw white male mak child born in davis county he was baptized into the church of jesus christ d of f latter day saints when eight years of age at the april conference of 1867 1807 he was called ty president heber C kimpell kimball to go gid on a mission to europe he started on an his mission may lath 1867 crossing the plains most qt the way by team and arr arrived ivedA to Liver liverpool popl en england july he HeTa labored labo bored faithful faithfully in the kent and glasgow conferences two years preaching the gospel and after havig bavier completed his hl mission to the satis satisfaction action oje of the he presidency was released on the tha alth and departed from liverpool in the steamship colorado homeward bound july 1869 arriving at Ms his home in farmington august december kh 1869 he was married to MaryAs daughter of bf DY dr willard richards 11 upon DA which occasion president Brigha joa auld young predicted that brother grover would yet occupy prominent positions of usefulness in the kingdom of god november 1871 he was ordained a III high h priest and ana caned to preside over the nab juab stake of zion subsequently anere being changes in the presidency he has been first counselor therein he has beena been a leading figure in the management of all of the important matters pertaining to the welfare and prosperity of the stake in 1873 he was elected bi representative to the legislative assembly of the territory of utah and has since that time been repeatedly elected representative senta tive and councilor and has been well recognized recognised and admired as a wise and able representative of the people in 1875 he was elected to the a effice e of selectman and in 1878 1876 to that of probate judge for juab county and he held the latter office at the tima of his demise he was an extensive stockholder in the nephi Aler mercantile cantile and nephi mill and manufacturing institutions and held the offices of president and superintendent in of th the store and secretary and superintendent of the mill re he was prominently identified in m all of the public institutions of atthe the stake and was a very liberal subscriber to every legitimate enterprise and industry organized ran since nce his a arrival or va ih e in the F ayt rational bank a of eam about to be b organized he be was a subscriber f for r a consid considerable rab amount and at the ho preliminary meeting was chosen for one of its directors As a financier he was of the first order and his judgment and executive ability were quick and firm he was as a close lasting friend and while beng being ai a latter day saint sain and leavin having the 0 love and and confidence dence of the aug authorities and people eople ot of the church he was broad liberal ral and charitable 19 such an extent as to gain the admiration and confidence of every class 1 on the even evening ing 0 of f the ath dinst brother grover and h his I 1 s wife had habben blen to the tomb a and that there a should be no binen funeral ser sermon mon over hs his remains his Is wish was carried out the obsequies commencing at his late residence and after singing dugin by the tabernacle choir an and prayer by apostle H J grant branty the mu multitude assembled to attend the funeral passed through the parlor viewed the remains and the procession then being beang arranged in order proceeded proceed eI to the cemetery it was te largest largest attendance on any occasion of t the e kind ver ever known in this county A great many friends and and procip pt citizens citizen fl from salt lake e i utah th t and ott 0 other counties wei e present among them were quite a number of his eo co laborers in tho the legislature the funeral procession returned af 4 pm p m and adjourned to the saphi tabernacle where the afternoon Is ser r vices were devoted to remarks in relation to the deceased the tabernacle acle was draped for the occasion and combined with the devotion deceased deceased leaves leave a wife five children a mother and numerous other relations to mourn his departure his friends and the entire community retain an affectionate remembrance of the departed
