| Show EVENTS death of mrs mary C dyer mrs mary C dyer an old respected and well known resident 0 thit abir city died this morning at the residence of her daughter mrs hettie ellerbeck at the good old age of eighty four years she was a faithful lat ter day saint devoted to her religion and a constant attendant attea dant at divine service till within a few weeks of her decease san juan stake conference the quarterly conference of the san juan stake was held at bluff san juan county utah on feb and president francis A hammood hammond presiding the presidency of the stake some of the members of the high lagh r council and most of the bishops and their counselors were present the first day was was occupied by the high council and bishops who bore testimony and reported their wards the second day was taken up by the stake presidency instructing the saints as to their duties various subjects were treated upon all tending to encourage and build buila up the people in their faith the bishops reports AS showed that the saints were im proving improving both temporally and spiritually A priesthood meeting was held and the officers instructed in their various duties the general mid and local authorities were unanimously sustained the weather was very favorable and the time was one long to be remembered by all present CHARLES E WALTON stake clerk returned elders elder E J eardley of the sixth ward of this city who returned from a mission to virgiria on Saturday called at our office this morning he left home borne for his field of labor on march 1890 he reports that in the twelve counties of virginia where his bis ministerial duties were performed there is a much better feeling towards the latter day saints than formerly the mission is in an excellent condition he made many warm frieu friends ads during his absence we have also had bad the pleasure of meeting elder walter J poulton who left this city in company with elder eardley labored Is b ored in the same conference although not in the same part of the field and also returned home at the same time elder poulton like elder eardley ya performed a faithful mission and both of them express themselves to the effect that when they entered the ministry they practically realized the benefit of having bad a training in the first principles of the gospel several years ago in connection with a preceptor class both enjoyed their and return in good health and spirits on his arrival here brother poulton found a letter from his hie late field tn in which were expressions ol of appreciation of his bis labors death of E P allred sister elizabeth parkis allred wife of bishop james Allred of spring city departed this life on the of february after an illness of twenty four days the causee cause of death being pneumonia the funeral services were bad on the at 10 some of the leading citizens of manti ephraim chester moroni and mount pleasant were among the large company present words of kindness and sympathy were spoken by bishops reid 1 irons and dorious president peterson and counselor frantzen the me remains were followed to the cemetery by a long cortege the dedicatory prayer at the grave was offered by president Preside tit pt terson sister allred alart d was born in pike county ills march 1823 3 and was baptized into the church of jesus christ of latter day saints saint in salt lake city october 1861 she resided in the fifteenth ward until 1865 when she removed with her husband to spring city here she coated as first counselor to sister mary ann price hyde in the relief society of this stake until her death she was greatly esteemed by all who know knew her N ALLRED CITY feb 1892 snowflake stake conference the quarterly conference of the snowflake stake was held in the stake house at snowflake on sunday and monday february and the weather was very fine and there was 0 a good attendance from the wards near by but very few from the remote wards attended presidents jesse N smith and lorenzo H hatch with members of the high council were on the stand we were not favored with the presence of any of the general authorities the speakers were president jesse loo N smith and lorenzo H hatch bishops C 1 I kempe hans hansen and L M savage and brothers paul smith joseph W smith W D horchner Korch ner and E M webb many subjects were dwelt upon by the speakers among which was that of economy and several others which were of g great eat importance to the saints saint there was a priesthood meeting in the evening when some business was transacted the arrangements arrange mente for holding our next conference at pinetop in connection with the other three stakes of arizona was talked over the general and local authorities were presented and sustained by vote of the conference the reports of the bishops showed that the prospects for the coming season seem good conference was adjourned to meet at pinetop on the first sunday in july next JOSEPH FISH I 1 stake clerk morgan stake the quarterly conference of morgan stake convened on sunday and monday the and lost the weather was pleasant and the meet ings were well attended the condl tion of the stake was reported by counselor S francis who said that spiritually the stake was in a better condition than for some time past but financially it was not nat so BO good as might be desired the tithing was low this year compared with what it had been but he be thought this was owing to the depression in the produce market however the stake was in as good a condition as aa could be expected under the circumstances and they had every cause to be thankful for the manifold i blessings which they received the various quorums were reported by their respective presidents and the reports showed that the quorums qu with one or two exceptions were in good working order and the members alive to their duties among those who addressed the conference besides the local brethren were elders allen alien of summit stake and purton and ellis of weber and davis stakes many important sub ejects were spoken upon and much good counsel was given all who attended attend led felt well repaid for coming together on tuesday a sunday union and jubilee were hold held and the attendance was so 80 large that the seating uc accommodation proved insufficient A good gramme pro was rendered and an enjoyable time was spent this austin were present from boar bear lake the weather was pleasant and the people camle came from fat far and near on the afternoon of the first day the meeting was called to order by Preist president dent bagley after singing by the shair and prayer by J H burningham Burning bam liam president deat bagley sp spoke ake of the object of the gathering brother H E B morgan then read an essay entitled the amre rising generation 21 the presidents of the various associations reported satis facto rily bishop E N austin d wen weft upon the anady advantages which the young people now possessed also ex el how the priesthood was taken from the earth and how restored in the last days brother bagley addressed the meeting on the law ot of tithing and quoted from scripture thereon there was an officers cerrO meeting at the close of the afternoon session at which president Preside ut bagley give gave good instructions on sunday conference wits was called to order at 10 am bishops Cazie rClark and holbrook each offered encouraging remarks bishop E N austin occupied the remainder of the time and spoke of the duties of the latte rd day saints Sain he also referred to the word of 01 wisdom and encouraged the people to pay their tithing at the afternoon meeting the sacrament was administered bishop dewey and bishop jenson having spoken the remainder of the time was occupied by Preal
