the old settlers of utah death of father john B lewis between 9 and 10 o this athla morning November 19 father john B lewis of the twentieth ward died suddenly at his residence the veteran was outside the house at the time he collapsed he fell to the ground and expired almost tnt instantly antly the ca cause was old age there being no organic organic disease the physical machinery was simply worn out prid and suspended operations the deceased was waa 95 of age on the fth day of last april he was a native of england and by trade a carpenter and shipbuilder he became lamog a member of the church of jesus christ of latter day saints on the of april 1849 and has been faithful to his bis religion he was an honest upright man in all the relations of life father lewis enjoyed the distinction during the last few years since the death of father merrill of being the oldest it 11 an in salt bait lake city fatal shooting A correspondent of the DESERET NEWS writes from vernon tooele thoele county under date of the dinst he say baye quite a gloom was cast over our settlement this morning by the accidental shooting of charles jorgensen aged 18 or 19 years jorgensen and a young man named paddock were tracking deer when the batters lat gun was accidentally discharged the bullet entering the nose killing jorgensen instantly information of the sad fatality was brought here at 8 last night the father of the deceased was seven miles distant and was immediately apprised of his bis sonis death the body was brought home the occurred five miles from here and an inquest held paddock was exonerated the bereaved parents have the sympathy of a large circle of friends and acquaintances the mississippi this coti conference ference was to have been held in covington co near williamsburg 8 was given by president kimball who expressed his bis satisfaction with the diligent labors of elder pettigrew and his faithful companions their labors during the year have been in entirely new fields 1891 with this the following named brethren as tile the bishopric thereof albert W davis davia bishop daniel P callister first counselor wm win E langford second cou counselor elor the brethren were unanimously sustained to act in these positions and were ordained and set a aart art to labor in their respective callings under tle th e hands bands of president joseph P F smith of the first presidency and angus M cannon and charles W penrose of the presidency of the stake the ward is formed of part of brighton and north point wards and bounded as follows commencing at a point on the west bank of the jordan river on the north side of south temple street running thence west about three miles to the west line of township running thence north about two and one half miles to a point directly west of the center of what is known as the lane thence east along alone said lane about three miles to west bank of jordan river thence south along said river to point of beginning the new school house recently erected by brother albert W davis at his bis own expense will be used as an a meeting house bouse until a more corn com iodious building is erected by the ward president joseph F
