brigham young trust company asked fur for a remission of special side walk taxes on its property on commercial avenue granted william B lowry asked to be appointed to a position on the police force received and filed A large number of citizens asked that they be relieved from paying the excessive special sidewalk tax levied on their property saying that they were assessed in some oases cues at least 10 in advance of the actual cost of the construction of the sidewalks in front of their property laid on the table Hou houlahan ahan griffith faith sent in a communication muni cation in which they stated that there are a number of property owners in the brick sidewalk district who had paid the assessment for a brick walk and after doing so had bad laid cement walks board of public works M H walker and others asked that a cement sidewalk be laid on the west went side aide of main street from second south to sixth south streets forthwith granted jake greenwald and others asked that J M HILL the city engineer reported that he had bad completed the location of toe the pipe line to carry water from city creek f capitol hill and the north bench a high as thirteenth street and that i would be necessary to cross the land laan of ef adam C and ernest spiers salers for i distance of half a mile also that i would be necessary for the city to pui pu chase one and a half balf acres of said land on which to construct tanks ga gate houses bouses etc for that system adopted LIQUOR ORDINANCE an ordinance relating to and provid ing for the aie of spirituous vinous I 1 malt and other intoxicating liquors aliquo and to corking and bottling of such liquors was read twice and laid over ever for one week the ordinance provi provides oes that a wholesale and retail liquor business can be conducted by procuring a retail license provided that only one bar be run on the premises re and that the business la is co conducted 11 acted on the same floor and under the same roof section 2 provides that any person who engages in the business of battling bott lingl and corking liquors which are not prepared or manufactured in this cit y shall pay a license of per quarter THE SURVEYS DO NOT AGREE the city engineer reported that the work of re surveying plat E had progressed so far as to show that there was a difference between the lines of the original survey and the lines indicated by recent improvements improvement in order to rectify these differences he be asked that a committee be appointed and authorized to take such steps as j were necessary to complete the work in a manner that would meet with the approval of the jifca olty council committee on streets with the city attorney and city engineer associated SURVEYORS TAKE NOTICE the same officer presented a communication 1 muni cation in which he be represented that he had established by means of stone monuments at liberty park a standard to which ail all measuring instruments st in his office were kept adjusted 1 he also asked that the standard of measure used by him be made official and that an ordinance be passed making it an offense punishable by a fine not exceeding to make surveys without first
