| Show OUT OF ITS OWN MOUTH SALT LAKE CITY J june u ne 9 1891 editor deseret news au an editorial in this days issue of the salt lake attracted my attention by reason of its flimsy arguments in favor of maintaining the old lines in local politics the article concludes with the following paragraphs in the meantime the agitation hurts business in the meantime eastern peo le who would like to come here are g ele away in the meantime there is no eastern money coming and all that would be needed now to utterly prostrate business would be to have the assurance given that the liberal party had died and that there was an imminent prospect of statehood for utah at the coming session of congress this states distinctly that there is no eastern money coming to utah and in case the liberal party becomes defunct that absolute prostration of trade will prevail in the first column of page six ot of the same issue in which is the editorial referred to appears the following item MONEY COMING IN three or four large lots lota of money have been received here recently from boston for investment in local realty and fu further on in the same column I 1 find another an ther item of a similar import here it is REAL ESTATE MEN real estate men report that while the market may seem a little slow there to is a steady stream of money flowing in here from the east and is being steadily in vested now what conclusions are to be drawn from this conflict in descriptions of the situation here either the editor or the reporter must be an intentional or else both must be the most stupid and thickheaded scribes on the american continent yet these are the kind of men who are trying to control the destinies of a prosperous territory they do not appear to have even the faculty of tolling telling a plausible lie without stamping on its face its own refutation the tribune also contends that there is no change in the situation in this city county and territory I 1 would respectfully call attention to its own report of the commencement exercises of st marks school and for its own education I 1 will reproduce the closing paragraph of that report here it iv Is bishop leonard has issued a circular to the friends of st marks school in which he says mys we recognize the fact that the time has come when a change is demanded in the conduct of st marks school the circum circumstances which called it into existence as a school have practically pai based sed away accordingly it is proposed to change the character of the chool beginning with the tall fall term in september st marks high school will be under ander the charge of the present principal professor J B howard A B baho who will be assisted by superior teachers and the number of pupils will be limited and a lib high agh grade of instruction st will be imparted A STRANGER |
