Show DEATH OF RUEBEN MBRIDE the following obituary of ruben buben mcbride whose death occurred february at fill Fl flicmore ilmore more millard co has been handed in for publication ruben mcbride son of daniel and abigail Me mcbride Bride born at chester cheater washington county now new york june 1803 married ann daughter of lansing and Pres prescilla cills anderson june 1833 he was baptized sed into the church of jesus christ of latter day saints march eth 1834 in the town of villanova Vil lenova chautauqua Chatau qua county new york joseph smith the prophet and parley P pratt were honored guests at brother mcbrides Mc Brides house on the day of his bis baptism and hold held meeting therein at the close of which the prophet called for volunteers to go up and redeem zion the new convert was one of ane first to respond to the call and went through that wonderous march of eternal honor as a member of zions camp and when discharged cha with blessings he returned to kir Kirt kirtland wad Tand in company with brigham young upon the exodus of the saints sainto from kirtland he was left as the custodian of the temple and other property there uncle ruben buben always considered himself the last legally appointed custodian of that sacred edifice he was a confidential confluent ial minute man responsive to the call of the man of god whose memory was a lifelong companion of love and confidence he was the fl first rat man baptized for the dead in the font of the temple at nauvoo and heard the explanation from the lips of the prophet blessed is hewko is first baptized for the dead in this dispensation in the year 1850 he came on to salt lake city and lived in the family of president brigham young he assisted in taking tho first census of the territory and returned to kirtland in the fall of 1851 the remnant left in kirtland started for utah the following spring and brother mcbride McBri and his bis family wintered in Spring springville ville in 1852 in the following year he was called to settle in fillmore millard county where his home has been until he died he was called on a mission to europe and choseed crossea the plains with the handcart hand bart company in 1857 came lack ack the same year as johnsons army was making its me morable march to utah he returned to england in 1867 and labored as a missionary in the nottingham conference he was for many years a mem her ber of the high council of this stake of Zion where his patient peaceful unassuming disposition made all who knew him his friends he has gone to a hi higher her sphere leaving his wife ann alterson An anderson Terson by y whom he had nine children six of whom survive him and fifty grandchildren with thirty great grandchildren to revere emulate his faith in the gospel of jesus christ |
