Show the school board the board of education met at the city hall Sept fth with president scott in the chair the following report was read yb to the board of Gentle triAn your committee ou on the employment of teachers present the following report I 1 they recommend that the following designated grades of teachers be employed in the schools of said city for the ensuing year to wit 3 arl principals assistants to principals acl I 1 intermediate grade second primary and first primary 2 that the following prices be paid to such teachers to wit I 1 por for beginners first years teaching 50 per month 2 por second years yearns teaching experienced teachers 60 per month 3 for third years yearns teaching 75 per mouth month 4 that principals and assistants to principals be paid in each cue case such compensation as the character of the labor to be performed and the responsibility to be assumed shall warr warrant arit and that such sum be fixed and agreed upon on behalf of the board of education by the committee on the employment of teachers your committee appends hereto a form of contract to be entered into by school teachers for the consideration aide ration of the board 5 your commit committee further becom mends that for the ensuing year there be employed two instructors of vocal music whose services shall be given iv t en to the schools in said city unger under the direction of the superintendent all of which is respectfully submitted P L WILLIAMS U li U colba m G D the A report was amended so as to read not ot to exceed 50 60 and 75 per month mr nelson said he be expected to be able to report the probable amount of revenue which would be raised for school purposes for the ensuing year but collector hardy had not footed up the figures yet and he was unable to report the amount he suggested the board meet again on monday night when he be would have the information the committee on gener general 1 supplies recommended the employment of the following persons as janitors districts I 1 and 2 mr brown 35 per mo 1 3 and 4 no applicant 6 5 and 6 T timmons 20 district 7 J JG G dinwoodey 30 80 1 8 mr reynolds 20 10 T harris 80 80 11 W T ayland 25 12 no action 13 otto eichorn 20 14 no action I 1 15 arand Mrs Hansen 35 16 geo carter 2 21 17 charles hunt 20 19 C CO G anderson 35 2 geo H hharrison harrison 26 25 21 james wellard 30 80 the report was adopted treasurer walden presented a report showing that the receipts of the board were while the disbursements were leaving the amount of 2584 92 overdrawn referred to the committees on finance and audit The committee on furniture reported the receipt of from G mcannor MCann ou for the purchase of furniture etc of the fourteenth district the auditing committee reported the following resu resolution lution which was waa adopted resolved 1 that we request all the outgoing trustees to furnish a full inventory of the school property iu in their districts and affix thereto a reasonable and fair cash valuation for the same and that the county collector be eusted to furni alf the net amount of tax to be collected from each district in 1890 for the purpose of ascertaining the total amount of school property in the city and the taxes to tn be collected in order that a uniform rate of tax can cam be computed which it would be necessary nece scary to assess if desired to pay for this property and that this committee U be authorized to produce from the city assessor the total assessed Rss essed valuation of property in the city showing the amount in each of the old school districts from which to dk determine ermine the proper proportion each district should have supply supplied ed under a uniform tax as above suggested 2 that each district be then charged or credited as the case may be with the difference between the amount actually actual lr turned over and what its proportion would be on the basis of said uniform tax 3 that the next session of the legislature be petitioned by this board to frame such a law as will enable us to correct the inequalities found to exist between the various districts and that the clerk of this board be requested to furnish a copy of these resolutions to the outgoing trustees and to the press the bonds of treasurer walden and secretary moreton were presented and referred to the finance committee on motion of mr nelson a all payments so far allowed on written N contracts contract i were referred to the auditing committee and that they put said ac accounts accountis in proper form the meeting then adjourned |
