| Show STAKE conferences ST JOHNS the quarterly conference of this stake was held on the ath and ath alt present on the stand the president of the slake and representatives from all of the wards albo visitors rs from snowflake and utah I 1 ing apostles F M lynian ian anil and john H smith much good instruction was given and the saints spent a pleasant plia sant timp time there has been much sickness and several deaths here bete during the past quarter SAMUEL D MOORE clerk ST JOSEPH the quarterly conference of the st joseph stake was held march and at pima arizona art present sent on the stand apostles F M lyman and john H smith the presidency of the stake most meat of the bishops and their counselors members of the high council and others most of the time allotted for speaking was occupied by the apostles who instructed the congregation upon the necessity of living as becomes a latter day saint advising all 11 to leave off evil habits and tuf turn n to the right they should be prayerful charitable walk uprightly and set a good example to their fellow men in the afternoon of monday the general and stake authorities were presented 4 and unanimously sustained the instructions of the brethren were greatly appreciated the apostles visited all the wards in the valley and organized one new ward during the past three months there have been much rauch sickness and death in this locality but it is abating somewhat now the weather continues fine and the prospects for good crops are most favorable THOMAS E R Wr WILLIAMS LLIAMS stake clerk BEAVER the quarterly conference of the tha beaver stake of zion convened cou in the meetinghouse meeting house in beaver city utah sunday march the stake presidency bishops and their counselors were all present also counselor george Q cannon of the first presidency of the church there was a large attendance at 10 am president john N murdock called the meeting rue eting to order the services commenced by the choir si singing a hymn and prayer was offered by elder wm J cox president Dt murdock made some appropriate remarks in regard to the affairs of the stake president cannon can noa followed with a very instructive instruct i ve discourse daon the general condition of the saints the changes which were constantly occurring and the causes leading to these results result the choir sang the autuem sing 0 earth the glorious morning and recess was taken at 2 pm after ed singing mgt ng and prayer by bishop F T gunn the sacrament was administered president murdock announced that Br Brot herG othero munford MUD ford had been chosen to fill the vacancy in the bishopric of the second ward of the city and the vote of the congregation thereon was unanimous elders robert W stoney and charles F harris were sustained austain td as first and second counselors president cannon anil elder george eyre afterwards delivered addresses and recess was taken till the following day on monday march at 10 am after the usual opening exercises president murdock spoke briefly and bishops white ard smith then gave a report of their wards president tyler reported the high priests quorum all of the reports were couched in favorable terms the clerk read the statistical stati al report of the stake and sunday schools superintendent wm fotheringham gagean gave an encouraging report of the condition of the sunday schools president cannon spoke of the great responsibility resting upon the rising generation and alluded to the church 9 boots and their management recess was taken until I 1 p m in order to afford time fur for the holding holdina of a supple meeting at minersville Mine Miners raville ville the same evening at the close of the meeting arojo nathau nathan Cros bythe veteran president of the seventies was ordained a high otiest george munford was ordained a high priest and bishop in the second ward with robert W stoney and chlarles charles frank harris as his counselors at I 1 p in after the opening exercises the general and local authorities were presented and unanimously sustained remarks were made by counselor M li shepherd and presidents cannon and murdock conference adjourned adjourn id for three months at the supplementary meeting in ward president murdock presided president cannon and the members of the bishopric were present president murdock announced that the high council had bad chosen brother solomon walker as the successor to bishop M knight who had bad resigned brother walkers name on being presented was unanimously sustained president cannon delivered an able discourse brother solomon walker was ordained a high priest and set apart to be the bishop of the minerville Mi nerville ward with george eyre as his first counselor the other counselor to be selected shortly thus closed one of the most interesting te conferences ever held in beaver stake W G stake clerk |
