| Show commenced work the municipal authorities are doing some rustling to get a more abundant sup supply ply of water for the city it will be seen by the council minutes of last evening eve din g that the exchange for parleys cr creek e e k water has been made and the matter ater of the construction of the ditch to bring it to this city placed in the hands bands of mayor armstrong and the council committee committe eon on canal bright and early this morning the mayor of the committee commit tei and others everal started out and the work of construction was commenced forthwith the council also authorized the mayor and canal committee to construct a new canal from toe the big cottonwood flume on the large canal the old channel to he be deepened to the for ty two foot food d drop op to this city a distance of about tit ten miles the understanding was that at no clacel would the descent to the mile be less than four feet the excavation to be ten feet wide at the tie bottom and two feet deep this will carry more water than the 20 foot ednal does at present this morning some of the committee on canal the surveyor watern laster and I 1 workmen also left with a view to commencing operations today in addition to this a committee went south to the point of the mountain to attend to the further opening of the chinnel channel there that a greater flow of water through the canal might be secured |
