wind windstorm a S but yesterday atter afternoon ter noon the city was awe swept t almost as by a hurricane at it a strong westerly wind track struck the to town 11 enveloping e loping 1 everything every thin in a cloud of dust T the h e gale increased te Is velocity and in all parts loose articles were thrown about in lively shape the tabernacle was filled with people at the time and enen the wind struck the building the roof seemed to fairly quiver and the place was filled with dust duat which however soon subsided the tract where the gale was heava est eat seemed to be along the tier of blocks between third and fifth south streets Bt large trees were torn tern up in all parts of town but in the strip re tarred to there was a greater proportion and much damage was done near the D R G
