SUU head coach Eric Houle said the veterans on the team are preparing to compete in bigger meets and he likes to have his younger runners practice in the smaller meets so they can develop their skills to take on the runners that have had more experience. We have a really young team this year, and we are working on developing them to perform well in bigger meets, Houle said. Houles biggest goal as coach this year is to have his team lower their time as a whole in meets. Houle said he would like to create team unity by having the SUU runners cross the finish line within a few seconds of each other. Sophomore Ashley Tyndall said she is aware of the importance of making sure the team is working together to improve their time in meets. We are really working on binding the gap by watching the girls in front of us, and making sure we are all working as a team, she said. SUUs most recent wins came over Houston Baptist and South Dakota two weeks ago in Texas. While the team has opted to use the time off to rest, one question remains for SUU head coach Becky Hogan: Who is going to start , V 4 at goalkeeper? Between Taylor Bolding and Kaitlyn Caldera, Hogan said the race is tight. We are looking at stats right now and thats going to be the ultimate tiebreaker, she said. Objectively and subjectively, we have to look at it two different ways because right now, theres no clear frontrunner. Boldmg began the season as the starter after making a big impact on the 2014 team. So far this season, Bolding has nabbed 20 saves and has allowed nine goals (.690 save percentage) but sits with a -3 record. Caldera has started the past three matches, grabbing 10 saves and allowing three goals (.769 save percentage). She has picked up the win in each of the matches she has played Whoever starts will have the church to work with the young backline in trying to up the defensive stand.
