She said she is excited about the QR code the center was given as part of Love Utah, Give Utah because it will make donating more convenient, she said. Sterling said the Guild of the Utah Shakespeare Festival agreed to match every donation given up to $2,500. The $1,790 donated to the Festival will go toward productions and educational programs this summer. Sterling said she encouraged people not only to donate to the Utah Shakespeare Festival, but to donate to other it causes as well. Brad Bishop, director of annual giving for university advancement at SUU, said they got the word out about SUUs participation in Love Utah, Give Utah through social media. I think social media will encourage people to donate, he said. Its the idea that we are speaking to people the way they want to be spoken to: on Facebook and Twitter. Aryn Anderson, the student aid for annual giving on campus, said she took responsibility for the online campaigning for funds because she is the person who is the most familiar with social media in her office. Anderson said social media advertising helped this fundraiser to be different than other fundraisers because they werent just targeting retired people who can afford to donate thousands of dollars. She said they were trying to target middle-age- d people who had $10 to spare. She said she posted information about the fundraiser on SUU group pages on Facebook and Twitter. A few of the posts were on the Honors, LDSSA, College of Humanities & Social Sciences and SUUSA pages. Anderson said she posted about the fundraiser on her own Facebook page and it was nice to get instant feedback when people liked her post. She said several of her friends posted it onto their pages, as well. If the students want to donate, that is fantastic, but thats not really who we are targeting, Anderson said. We are targeting their parents, their neighbors, their grandmas bridge club, and if they post it, those people will be able to see it and donate.
