It is by far the funniest movie Ive seen all year and definitely has been worth the wait. For those who spend too much time on the web (i.e. procrastinating college students you know who you are), you may have seen the gloriously aggressive marketing campaign. There has been a series parody trailers featuring spoofs of Green Lantern, The Hangover Part II, Breaking Dawn, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and even a parody of themselves. Next time youre trying to write a paper, remember this list and be entertained for half an hour. Or alternatively do your homework and free up the hour and a half needed to see this movie because, trust me, it is worth it. It was put on by a variety of dance majors and minors and those that just enjoy dancing. . Kelsi Leavitt, a senior English major from Kaysville, danced in the Breaking Bounds dance concert. Student choreographed dances are a lot less formal, which isn't a negative thing, but theres a lot of collaboration between choreographer and dancer, Leavitt said. The faculty still helped out a bit to coordinate some of the more difficult lifts and movements. Shauna Mendini is the Dean of the College of the Performing and Visual Arts. Pushing creative barriers is the goal behind each years Breaking Bounds concert, Mendini said. Students inspiration from their dj-a- lives, music and within their imaginations. Leavitt said there's a lot more experimentation with those that are selected to be in each piece, and it's more of a work in progress in a much moie brief time. Reece Thompson, a sophomore philosophy major from Cedar City, attended opening night to cheer on his girlfriend. I thought it was pretty awesome, Thompson said. I really enjoyed it and I'd recommend it to everyone. The performance opened on Wednesday night and went all weekend in the SUU Auditorium. It was a good turnout for opening night being during the week, Leavitt said. We had it's fun to hear people a pretty lively crowd laugh in the audience. Not everyone that performed in the concert were dance majors or minors. Anyone can audition to be a part of the Breaking Bounds dance concert Leavitt said there were a number of people that arent a part of the dance program on campus that were in the concert. The last dance number was performed by Orchesis, a modern dance organization on campus. Mendini said these concerts really help to enhance the students experience and also enrich the cultural community of Cedar City and southern Utah. Kay Anderson is the chair of the Department of Theatie Arts and Dance. The process that brings you Breaking Bounds is always an exciting time in the department. Anderson said. It teams together student choreographers, lighting designers and costume designers in a collaborative experience that is innovative, dynamic, and always educational. Mendini said the Breaking Bounds concert helped to fulfill the mission of the college.
