There are things in this world that are just unacceptable regardless of the freedoms we all have. Everyone has the same rights to freedom in this country. Some people however, take these freedoms with broken bonds too far. An evangelical pastor of Gainesville, Fla. has demonstrated perfectly this problem with our society. His name is Terry Jones, a man who is causing uproars in many religious communities and has a surprising following of thousands of fans. His plans are to memorialize Sept. 11 attacks by burning copies of the Quran. Jones has become a symbol throughout the world sentiment. With thousands of American a in of day, Jones claims that the pouring negative outnumbered the positive by about three to one. Even though Jones does not want the memorial to get violent, he recently started wearing a pistol on his hip due to threatening His response to this act was, we have to be careful. Several countries including Egypt and Indonesia and some Muslim leaders have officially condemned Joness church, the Dove World Outreach Center, and its followers. In addition, the Gainesville Fire Department rejected his request for a burning permit but that will not dissuade Jones as he said its just politics. With signs outside his church declaring, Islam is of the devil, authorities will not be surprised if there are acts of violence, riots, or terrorism caused by the Quran burning. When asked why he wanted to burn Islams sacred book, Jones replied, Its full of lies. Later when The New York Times asked Jones if he had ever read the Quran, he said, I have no experience with it whatsoever. I only know what the Bible says. In Matthew 7:12, it says Do unto others as you would have others do unto you. If only we could all use this example to live our lives by. Jones is taking it too far and needs to remember the teachings of this is not what Jesus would, do. the Bible There is a difference between using and abusing our rights under the constitution.
