However, new Coach Scott Bauman looks to bring consistency to the Lady Bird squad. An assistant at Utah State University for the last seven years, Bauman helped guide the team to a top 20 finish in last years NCAA competition. However, Bauman said he feels that the only way his team is going to improve is to compete against the best teams. The sport of gymnastics requires a great deal of strength and agility. Bauman says that his team works out four hours a day, which includes one hour of weight training and three hours for work on technique. Although he has a young team, Evans plans to build around his new players. We have four freshmen and two sophomores on our squad, said Evans. That means we have quite a few players who can grow and develop. Last week the golf team had its first retil test in Laramie, Wyo. Freshman Cory Monsen led the team with a 76. Bauman has a field of veterans in Chris Becker, Kim Francis, Lisa Gomez, Suzy Specht, Julie Aguirre, Mika Whiddon, Jody McKay, Jill Eagles, Ann Goldberg, Ann Marshal, and Becky Stonebreaker to produce a winning team.
