That is where Muir finds wisdom she can apply to her situation. If you can take other peoples points of view and then add them in your own, then that makes you a better person. Genies attitude makes me want to work harder and try to take her philosophy and do it now. A few years ahead of herself, Muir says she wants to be remembered as the person who always gave her all and who stood the test of time. Turley, who stands at the threshhold of being remembered, has already achieved the status to which her younger counterpart 14) be. Muir would agree that the pressure is definitely on when you step to the mound, but adds that you dont have to like it. I can handle pressure, she says, but its not my favorite part of the game. Instead, her favorite aspect of the game is being part of a team. Softball is about being a team. If everyone gives 1 10 percent all the time, youll be OK. Giving total effort has not been a problem for Muir, but making the transition from high school to college has been a difficult adjustment, she admits. I knew what to expect when I came here, the Las Vegas pitcher says. I wasnt even going to play college ball until (Coach Joy Peterson) started recruiting me. It was a big jump from high school to college just in the level of competition. Muir is rapidly growing accustomed to the tougher competition. During the fall softball season, Muir pitched several innings, which helped prepare her for the real thing. But in addition, Turley continues to be an influence on the young hurler. While Turley comes to grips with the idea that her softball career is nearing its end, she offers some advice to Muir. Softball has been so much to me. I figured out once that I have played 27 seasons, because in Arizona softball goes year round. Its just hard to realize that that wont be there any more. Then theres the team aspect of it. Ive always been part of a team. But all you can do is give it what you got, and give it your best each year. Learn from what youve done, so that when youre aspires.
