Although the Available and En Masse parties make up the majority of candidates stumping for political office, four students are currently running as independent nominees. Presidential and vice presidential candidates include independent presidential candidates Bubba Johnson and Karl Rostron; independent administrative vice presidential candidate Mark Holyoak. Leading the En Masse party is presidential candidate Darren Adair, academic vice presidential candidate Vance Broadbent, and administrative vice presidential candidate Del Beatty, while presidential candidate Julie Stuart leads the Available party with academic vice presidential candidate Michelle Dutson, and administrative vice presidential candidate Oscar Fakahua. Johnson sees a need for upgrading student services and student representation at SUSC. Jan Sheltons goals were to improve the diploma she did that. My vision is to upgrade services and student representation; these two areas were somehow left behind in upgrading the diploma, Johnson said. students comprise nearly 40 Since percent of the student population, Johnson said that it will be these students who make the difference. Johnson also sees a need for increased accountability for student government participants, who receive an estimated $25,000 per year in scholarships.
