Show rub 'jm nder; ird u susc: Winter Convocation slate focuses on eyewitnesses SUSC initiates its winter quarter Convocation series Jan. 4 with lecture by David Aikman, one of Time Magazine's most experienced foreign correspondents with 18 years covering the worlds hot spots. Aikmans lecture, Communism: A Grand Failure from China to Europe, starts at 11 a.m. in the SUSC Auditorium. We could call this Convocation series our eyewitness' quarter, Convocation Coordinator Lana Johnson said. We begin with Mr. Aikman, the last Time corresondent to leave Fhnom Penh in Cambodia and an eyewitness to the June 1989 massacre in Beijing. Bell will present the Feb. 8 Convocation, her topic African American Literature: Portrayal of a Culture. Bell is president of Caribbean Connections, Inc. a private corporation researching, writing and preparing for broadcast historical and cultural information in and about the African diaspora. Graphic design artist Don Weller visits SUSC Feb. 15 with a slide presentation titled An Inside Look at Graphic Design: g illustrator and graphic designer is The founder of the Weller Institute for the Cure of Design in Park City, Utah, where he works with his wife, Chikako, for an extensive American and Japanese clientele. The songs, stories and poems of the West are the specialties of Justin Bishop and John Nielson, better known as Horse Sense, the Feb. 22 presenters.
