Show PAGE 6 THE THUNDERBIRD SUSC MONDAY, DECEMBER 4, 1989 The High Flying Family Musical Arts & leisure Gamma Rays to blast Spruce lit After Hours with the Gamma Rays on Dec. 8 will eature the Salt Lake City band and SUSC acts along with non'alcholic exotic mixed drinks to mark the aijC1IfLanC end of Drug Awarness Week, Dec All proceeds from the dance will go toward alcohol and drug programs at the SUSC Counseling Center. The evening, dubbed The Greatest Nightclub Youll Ever Experience, will be held throughout the Student Center. amda Delta Sigma provided the decorations in hopes of creating a big-citnightclub atmosphere. Two strawberry daiquiris and pina coladas will be included in the admission price of $3.50. Tickets are being sold in advanced in the Kolob Living Room in the Student Center daily from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. They will also be sold at the door for $4 the night of the party. Phi Alpha Beta recruited the Gamma Rays for their first performance in Cedar City. Delta Chi also arranged for two SUSC acts, Three Types of Sugar and Rog er Bean, to perform. The Gamma Rays are a dynamic group who really put on a good show, said Becky Bell, Publicity Chairman for Chi Sigma Upsilon. The whole night should be a blast. The event, sponsored by the Inter-Gree- k Council and ASSUSC, will show how to party the right way in theme with Drug Awarness Week. This finale will be a great way to celebrate the end of a fine week, said Sigma Nu Lieutenant Commander Ben Blackburn. Fakahua next quater, Coca-Cola- Capture the Magic! on campus To ring in the Christmas spirit at SUSC the giant blue spruce tree growing between the Science Center and Auditorium was lit with hundreds of lights Thursday night. The chilly air created a Christmasy atmosphere as the SUSC Chorale, Womens Choir and French Club entertained a crowd of about 300. A wide range of carols were sung from a Jewish Hanukkah carol to the traditional We Wish You a Merry Christmas. Vice President for Student Services Sterling R. Church gave the traditional college administration speech. He kept his message, Sounds of Christmas short because of the cold. A raffle that was held to choose the flip the switch person to luminate the tree, raised money for needy children at Christmas. The name was drawn out of a stocking hat, and ASSUSC President Jan Shelton was the lucky winner. In addition to having the honor of lighting the tree, Shelton won two movie tickets. The crowd waited anxiously as Shelton flipped the switch to light the tree. The tree lit up with applause from the crowd. Croft? Macintosh computers have always been easy to use.
